It's perfect
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn't sure from other reviews but so so glad I got this. Now I don't have grass shooting everywhere. My yard is tight, so I needed a way to stop shooting grass into my gardens. It cuts great. Mulches pretty good. I have noticed a few clumps of mulched grass around but for the most part it cleans up great. I haven't cut real long grass sith it, but if you mow regularly it does a good job.
Fitment was a little tricky to get it in, took about 15 minutes for the block off. You just have to twist it a bit. I didn't have to cut anything. Blades took 5 minutes.

Design a Steel Chute Blocker
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Product arrived shortly after ordering it. No problem installing the blades and they cut well. However, you do not get good performance with the plug installed. It leaves clumps of grass that you have to recut multiple time to chop up. The plug itself is hard to put on and take of. You don't have to be super strong to put this thing on, but it doesn't lineup properly with out force. I like Cub Cadet products and would like to see them come up with a steel chute blocker (like a flap) that can mount to the deck, spring loaded with a handle that can be open and closed on the fly. Sometimes you want to cut and throw clippings in the open, but close the chute when you get closer to the house or car. Noone likes to throw grass clippings all over your ride when cutting the lawn, then have to rewash your truck because you cant block the chute.

Outstanding! 50” fab deck
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There are several negative reviews on here that made me hesitate buying this kit. Sure glad I did.
It’s a bit of a challenge to install as you must bend the plastic a bit to get it to seat properly. Once done correctly it seals great. No, debris does not blow up into your face. No, it does not have 1/2” gaps. This is for the flat top fabricated deck.
While not a true mulching kit, it is a great compromise between mulching and high lift. The best of both worlds. It has enough lift to cut good while still cutting debris into small pieces.
Debris does pile onto the deck, but no more than it did with the high lift blade/discharge shoot.
You can see the effectiveness in the before and after photo of oak and gum leaves. This was two passes 90 from each other. A single pass leaves lines of concentrated shredded leaves. Also you can see the size pieces it leaves.
If you’re undecided, get it. Understand it’s limitations and appreciate its attributes.

More Online Failure
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this March 30th and was asked to wait 3-5 days for processing. Fast forward to the end of April. No mulching kit and no email update. I get on the chat with Cub Cadet and they tell me that it is delayed until May 20th. It is now past that date as well and I have no email update or communication still .I'm now regretting buying this mower at all. I would have purchased a different mower if I'd know I wasn't going to be able to mulch my clippings with this one.

Great Product. Follow Their Directions.

The first time putting the mulching plate on your machine will be difficult if you don’t follow the directions provided. I tried to do it without reading the instructions but failed. I read through the instructions and I was able to do it within seconds. There’s a certain order you have to put it in for it to work for you. Overall a great product and have put it on and off multiple times and still looks and functions like new.

Underwhelming
Easy to install. Makes mower significantly quieter. Only mulches ok, though, and it completely kills the suction/lifting ability of the fabricated deck, so now you get tire lines all over the lawn where the grass has been smashed down.

Minced magnolia leaves
I have a large magnolia tree in the front yard. With my old Troybilt riding mower with mulch kit, I had to go over the leaves many times to chop them up finely enough to fall between the blades of grass. With this kit on my zero turn Cub Cadet, just one pass does the trick. It was a little hard to install, but I finally got the metal pin in the front to go in the hole in the deck. Took about 10 minutes to install.

(Mulch Plug Install) ZT1 50 INCH
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the Flat Top Xtreme® Mulching Kit for 50-inch Deck about 2 months ago. After putting the mulching S blades on with no problem, I proceeded to put on the mulch plug for the deck. I found that metal hook on the deck plug was too short to reach the hole I thought it was supposed to hook into based on online video. I call support and the representative said he understood my concern and told me would research the problem. I went ahead and installed the mulch kit anyway. After getting it line up as best I could, I found it to be sturdy enough, so I gave it a test drive. I don’t have any complaints so far. Seems to work fine if you don’t allow the grass to get too tall. It helps that my yard is only a ½ acre.

Worked as expected
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you ever changed your mower's blades before, installing this mulching kit is very simple and straightforward.
I bought it to break down the leaves on my 1.5 acre lawn, because driving my ZT1 around the bank of my pond with a collection bag is not safe. The mulching kit solved my problem for that, also I will never have to bag my leaves again. I hope the mulched leaves
will make my lawn healthier next year.

Easy to install but the bottom keeps blowing open
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found a better lift and mulch with the original blades. The mulching blades don't cut the grass well and tend to mat it down more than lift and cut. I put the original blades back on and it's mulch better. The plug pops out along the bottom and doesn't seal well. So-so performance. If you could buy the plug without the blades for 1/3 the price it would rate better. Basically it's over-priced. ZTS2-50

Great blades, just OK chute cap
Blades work very well and fit perfectly. Chute cap was extremely tight and difficult to put on, and then as snug as it is, there's a gap along the bottom seam that allows grass to sneak through and get clogged up. Makes cleaning more annoying, have to take time to specifically raise the chute guard and get those clumps out as they don't get cleaned out with the desk wash.

Mulch plug is just not for me
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The mulch plug fit perfectly BUT the grass has to be short and DRY or it will badly clog the mower deck. If I had to do it all over again, I’d purchase the blades only. The blades came sharp, balanced, and do a great job at cutting the grass into smaller bits. The mulch plug just sits on my shelf.

Mulching kit
Plug and Blades met my expectations. Several reviews state the blades were thin or lighter than the originals. I found the mulching blades to be the same thickness as the originals. For the plug, I reused the bolt that held on the original shoot to firm up the plug in the opening. This was not mentioned in the instructions.

Very pleased with mulching kit

The next day I mowed the yard which had a lot of leaves on the ground from all the wind over the past several days. The mulching kit worked perfectly.

Disappointed
For as much as it cost, very disappointed. Mulching chute needs to be manufactured better to fit properly, it was a struggle. 3 mulching blades were so out of balance out of the box I had to take them to the local shop to be balanced. The shop told me they have never seen brand new blades that far out of balance.

Good Mulching Blades

I should have sharpened them but went to the mulch kit and it was able to do its' job and drop the clippings. With the standard blades I was getting rows of grass every time I mowed.

Be careful overheating of machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Made my machine overheat when running on my lawn. .5 acres 3.5 inch cut worked well the first cut but second cut machine overheated. Would love to return but I don’t want to deal with the hassle of taking the blades off. i just took off the plug.

Looks Great

This mulch kit should work great for me. I cut my grass on 4” and never let it get over 1/3 taller.

I waited far too long to buy this.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 2 acres of thick woods behind my house and leaf cleanup is always a chore. I bought the new mower in 2021 and side discharge was not ideal for chop n drop leaf cleanup.
Haven't mowed grass with it yet, just leaves.

Terrible Fit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The plug is a terrible fit. It leaves large gaps that allow grass to blow everywhere, including up into your face. To make matters worse, the plug does not stay in position. It makes for a miserable mowing experience.

Multch Blades clump up on blade tabs.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The cover fits perfectly, however the blades do not cut perfectly. The grass clumps up on the mulch tabs of the blade and it won’t multch correctly. I will probably sharpen them up to a fine edge and try again

Mulching kit for cub cadet.

Mulch cover fits, blades dont.
zt1-50 2019. The plastic mulch cover fits the fabricated deck. The blades did not fit. The new blades have the "S"-type mounting hole, my mower has the 6-point star. I wish I could exchange these for 6-point 50in mulching blades for my 2019 zt1-50!

Doesn't cut well
