Rated 2 out of 5 by from XT2 LX42 [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Impossible to lower anti-scalp wheels to 1/2 or 1/4” from ground as directed in manual. Mechanic at Cub dealer suggested removing and then rewelding the brackets. On a redesigned mower costing over $2500.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4th year in use review [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OK, you buy a product and register it and they want a review. You get I brought it home, fired it up and it worked great! I don't do reviews like that, I use the product over and over and then maybe will write a review. I've owned my Cub for 4 years now, here's a real review. This is without a doubt the best lawn mower I've ever owned! I've had 3 other brands that never performed as well as this Cub Cadet. We have 50 acres in northern MN and I routinely mow 4+ every 1-2 weeks and sometimes way more if I get into my pasture and deer food plots. I was leery of the hydrostatic drive as all my others had select a speed levers, this drive has never let me down, it's easy and seamless. Never had a Kawasaki engine, all Briggs or Koehler's in the past, The Kawasaki starts EVERY time, runs great and has great torque to power through the tough stuff. Maintenance: In 4 years I've changed the oil and filter twice, sharpened the blades twice, blew out the air filter twice. The original battery is still good and with a wash every now and again it looks as good as new. The welded deck was important to me as I mow over a lot of sticks and branches that I don't pick up. The mower is parked in an unheated garage during the winter, I put Stabil in the gas when I park it. Fires up first try in the spring. I absolutely consider this Cub Cadet one of the best investments I've ever made! 4th year use review, it's been thru hell and back and still runs as well as it did the first time when I was asked to review it! Absolutely FIVE STARS!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality of mower This is my first rider, getting to old for all the push mowing. I love this mower. It runs amazingly well and cuts fantastic. It may be funny but the seat is crazy comfortable and the 16inch turning radius is great. The mower is still quite new (2.1 hrs) but so far I love it and would recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tractor [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First yard big enough for a riding mower.... and I couldn't be happier with my choice on this! Rides like a dream, cuts like a dream, and the bagger great too.... it looks really good too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black hood is the newer 2021 model [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just got it today after waiting a couple of months for the new 2021 model to come out. First of all please make sure you look at the reviews for people that got the newer 2021 model with the black hood, not the older 2020 model with full yellow hood. The difference between the old and the new model is that it has the best engine, Kawasaki and a heavy duty fabricated desk , not stamped. These two features you will normally find it in the higher models but the XT2 for them , so that's the one you want. Regarding the deck 42 inches is sufficient since it does not stick too much on the left side, when you sit on the tractor and looo down, meaning less risk to catch the corner of a stone of fence. Also, this new model has a better battery and the front wheels turn almost 90 degrees, easy to stear. This tractor replaces another Cub Cadet that was 20 years old, so looking for another 20 years with this one

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great mower! Happy with the purchase and decision to go with cub cadet. The 42” is perfect for our yard and the upgrades for the xt2 are worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Handles well [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased my XT2 LX42 in April 2021. I also paid for a mulching kit at the time and so far have not received it. The mower handles well but cut unevenly and scalps unlevel places in my yard. The side discharge spreads the clippings so far that I can not determine where I have cut and miss places in my lawn. My grandson really liked the looks and performance of the mower and he cuts my grass, so That is the primary reason for purchasing this mower. The deck belt jumps off the pulley regardless if the PTO is engaged at low or full engine speed. He also really wanted a Cadet Tee shirt and cap, but they are not available either. I am starting to wish that I had gone back to J.D. that served me well for over 10 years, which I gave to my son. I am really trying hard to like this mower but I am starting to regret the purchase. My dealer is great, but he can't help me either. It handles great and has excellent power.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid and fast [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] runs beautifully and cuts the grass into a very fine size

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor craftsmanship. Third time using the one blade fell off. I checked the underside of the deck and noticed the threads on the bolt that holds it on are stripped. Not sure where this happened but already in need of a repair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Frustrated at 15.0 hours run time [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased for the 2023 mowing season. It continues to back fire when turning off after mowing. I keep it at high idle as requested. I’m told I have to replace the fuel solenoid. I use 90 octane non-ethanol gasoline. It should be under warranty, but I need to pay for hauling so I’ll fix myself. I assumed purchasing at a dealer, the mower would be a step up from the XT1 model. Kinda wish now that I purchase a John Deere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent mower [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few weeks ago. It has impressed me with the handling of the hills in my yard, the added cart attachment assisted with the removal tree limbs and rocks off my land with ease, an added bonus was seat moved forward making it functional for teen daughters to drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow the xt2 is a great lawn tractor. It’s easy to handle and the cut is second to none. It is super comfortable while out in the yard and everyone loves the looks of it too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time saver Tired of raking leaves, I wanted a riding mower to attach a leaf collection system to. Researched for about a year before buying this model. I am amazed with the ease of operation and its cutting abilities. Can't wait to attack the leafs this year instead of the other way around. Powerful engine, fabricated is a Must if you have lots of trees like I do. Spend the extra money on the XT2.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mulcher throws debris out the front of mower deck My parents bought one last year, and my mother gets covered in debris when she uses the mulching function. We've talked to the dealer once with no luck. She has actually hit with ricocheting rocks and sticks. @cubcadet can you please help us?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Time Riding Mower Owner Was debating between Cub Cadet’s XT2 LX42, John Deere S240 and X350. Decided on the XT2 LX42. Couldn’t be more happier with the purchase. The Kawasaki engine, fabricated deck, transmission, rolled frame edges, all did it for me. Minus the electric PTO, and a 2nd set of anti-scalp wheels, the LX42 checked all the features I was looking for. I had my dealer install a mulch kit. Worked wells without one, and wasn’t sure what to expect with all the mixed to negative reviews on the mulch kit. Now that I have the mulch kit, I highly recommend getting the mulch kit. It really completes the mower. It cuts the grass incredibly well without one, but with the mulch kit, no more grass in my mulch beds and you can’t even see the grass clippings. The 2021 model year uses a different part number so not sure if changes were made to improve the mulch kit design. Very happy with my purchase and would recommend this mower. My next purchase will be to get a bagger attachment for the Fall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly As It Should Be [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cub Cadet XT2 LX42 riding lawnmower is the perfect compliment to your mowing experience! Very easy to operate. Very comfortable to drive. The lawn adjustment is easy to navigate. Thrilled with my investment and partnership with Cub Cadet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Covered in grass I bought the tractor a month ago. Seems to be well built does a great job cutting the grass very easy to drive but the mower deck is poorly designed. The grass shoots out the front and you are covered with grass clippings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cub Cadet 42 LX42 [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This riding mower has performed flawlessly for me the past month. Handle 1 plus acres with no problem. Good power and great turning radius. Cut my mowing time by half.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super mower for my needs Why only 4 stars? Give me a minute. I switched after 18 good years with John Deere because I wanted to buy from my local independent dealer. I had a deposit on an XT1 until I saw this XT2 in the showroom and the dealer manager discussed the benefits, which are real, even at the steep premium. I'm on an acre with a seriously sloping back yard. Had it since May and the Kawasaki 2 cylinder (highly recommended by an engine buddy) feels like more HP than listed. The upgraded tires are a major plus for me when the hill is wet. Other highlights include the steering and the three gallon tank (although difficult to read the gauge). I dinged it a star because of the location of the ignition being too low and close to the knee. I'm short but still turn the key off or out of reverse by accident with my knee when backing up with my head turned. I notice the competition has moved their ignition up high. The mulching kit came in late but I'm glad I finally have it. Overall I would buy it again and highly recommend this mower, even at the upper end of pricing for its class. Love the new aesthetics!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replaced a John Deere. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Better construction than the Deere I replaced. I like the reverse mowing feature, turning radius and 2 cylinder. Gas level viewing could be better

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great new features [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had this several months now. Excellent steering, V-twin has great power and much quieter than my last Cub Cadet. The wife loves the ride.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from XT2 LX42 We bought the lawn tractor last summer, and the "long-life" battery did not last 1 full year. We contacted our local Cub Cadet dealer, and they were quite surprised on the size of battery that was placed in the mower, as they stated it is very under-powered. When calling customer service, they were very rude and hung up on us, when we tried to get some details on the warranty (which is only 60-90 days apparently). The machine is fantastic, but the customer service is horrible!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get the mulching blades [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mulching blades are a necessity if you do not use a bagger, otherwise it’s impossible to mow cleanly in smaller areas.
