Product Reviews

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A piece of junk I've had this trimmer for less than a year and it has degraded continually. It is harder to start. Warmup is required. And oil seeps into the carburetor housing. It is at best a dog. Do not waste your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Power [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great trimmer for smaller or hard to reach places. High powered and easy to use. Not as heavy as I thought it would be, so it's light and portable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Notch Product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So glad we got this bad boy. It's light enough for me to use and easy to refill (something I always seem to struggle with). Definitely a good buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The product cut through some very thick weeds we had very easily. The gas wasn't running out too fast. It is very lightweight and easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality, high powered trimmer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The trimmer was pacakaged very well and arrived in perfect shape. I had an issue with another trimmer where the shaft was bent in shipping, but Cub Cadet made sure to protect their product. There was a plastic stabilizer in the shaft to prevent that very issue and the other parts were protected just as well. It comes with a special fuel that does have to be used with this product. But it protects the internal parts and is good for long storage so you don’t have to worry about storing it with fuel in it for the winter. I started using this trimmer a week ago and have trimmed my whole property and still have plenty of fuel left, so it worth it in my eyes. This thing is powerful, starts easy and is fairly lightweight. It even comes with a carrying strap. The best value in my opinion is that this model accepts accessories that will make it a pole saw, a spreader, etc. I plan on buying the accessories to use this product to help clear my property. As it sits, it is cutting light brush and small privet hedges. With the attachments, I’ll be able to get the job done without having to buy another machine. 5 stars from me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband took over the trimmer but we love it [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The cadet trimmer is a really good trimmer. It is easy to put together. I love the bump head on it. The only issue we had was having to take the head off and re-string the trimmer head. The bump head was not working until we took it apart to do that. With that being the only issue, this is a very sturdy and well designed trimmer. Everything you need is in the box. The instructions are easy to follow. I had the trimmer put together in less then 10 minutes. As far as operation, it comes with a strap to make holding it easier. It trims grass really well. Make sure you are wearing proper attire while using this. I would even suggest eye protection. The cadet trimmer was soon taken over by my husband. He really loved all the aspects. He tested it out on our property. He said it glides through the weeds/ grass without hesitation. It was quick to start. Make sure to read the instructions if you are new to trimmers, it will make it easier. I did receive this at no cost to me. However, that has no impact on my review. I would recommend this trimmer to anybody. It is high quality and gets the job done. You won't be disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap and plastic So disappointing to be writing a negative review about a Cub Cadet, I could not have been happier with my old CC trimmer and my current push mower. This trimmer, however, feels so cheap and so shoddily put together I'm just waiting for it to fall apart in my hands. The first time I used it the bolt rattled out of the handle, thankfully I had a nicer spare handle to put on. The string guard is just cheap wobbly plastic so I just use the trimmer without the guard. The engine rattles so badly I can’t tell if there is some sort of problem or if something around it is just loose. There is no space between the engine cover and the engine so the plastic part that rests against your elbow gets just as hot as the engine does. No matter how short I make the string the engine bogs and the whole machine wobbles when I give it any gas so it’s almost like the engine can’t even handle the load of just the normal head. Plus just everything from the grips to the fuel lever to to the choke switch feel so plastic and cheap and ready to break at any moment. I ordered direct from CC and have already gassed and oiled it up so I can’t ship it back and I will use it until it stops but again so so disappointed in CC for this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! A lot of power! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose this mainly to get the back part of our lot that I can't mow. Our other weed eater/edger didn't have enough power to cut through some of the native grasses that would grow past the back of our yard. This did not disappoint! The assembly was a piece of cake. It took maybe 15 minutes and that was with a 3-year old "helping" me. it took down everything I needed in the back and more. I also tried it in some of our mulch beds that had some small saplings coming through. It took care of those with ease as well! I was a little confused on how to get the line back out when it broke off all the way when I was along some rocks. After a couple of tries and no success I removed the line and put it back as if I was adding new line. Piece of cake at that point! It also solved the problem of the line breaking since it wound it back in how it was supposed to go. Couple of pointers on this one. 1. Make sure you are wearing glasses. This will kick up some serious dirt depending on where you are using it. 2. It also kicks back a lot of dirt at the shin level. I would wear pants or long socks if you are doing some heavy lifting with this thing. All in all, this has exceeded my expectations! I would definitely recommend this if you need something for more than your every day edging around the house.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Powerful but with some issues [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 4 cycle engine on this is much more powerful albeit heavier than the 2 cycle weed eaters I have used previously. I used the weed eater head as well as a edger attachment. The edger worked much better than on my 2 cycle due to the additional power. My complaints stem from the weed trimmer head though. 1. Normally weed trimmer heads rotate clockwise looking down from the top. This rotates counter clockwise. This means that the weeds/trimmings come straight back to your feet/shins. If you happen to hit a rock or a stick this can be painful. Normally with clockwise rotation the waste is thrown to the right mostly with only a bit of it hitting your shins. This would probably work well for a left handed person but not for a right handed person. 2. This trimmer cord feed mechanism looks like a great idea, however partway through the preloaded cord, both sides broke off and went back inside the head. This required taking the head apart which was not nearly as easy as they stated it was. Once the old cord was removed reloading was fairly easy. The bump feed mechanism seemed to work quite well. 3. Also since this has an extended straight shaft head on it so the final angle of the trimmer cord is tipped down on the front when you lower the head down to the ground. This means that you had to lower the engine in order to bump feed without the tips of the cord gouging the ground.
