Mulching kit for XT2 SLX50
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the XT2 SLX50 and am very happy with the lawn tractor itself but the mulching kit accessory that I purchased with it is the worst that I have owned. Until I find a set of mulching blades that will cut the grass in one pass, I will have to make multiple passes. I have tried very slow speeds and cutting more often, however, nothing seems to make a difference. Very dry low lawn still needs at least two passes to cut all the grass. When I do not have enough time to make all the necessary passes, I use my 21 year old Craftsmen, that I purchased the Cub Cadet to replace. The plug fits well and works great. I would be very happy if someone reading this could recommend a replacement set of mulching blades (not these) that will fit the XT2 SLX50 and work. Thanks!

Works as intended
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This works excellently. It is definitely a tight fit. It took some manipulation, 0 modifications. There are certain parts you have to push under or over metal parts so be careful not to cut yourself. It is a very tight fit once You get it on. I personally reattached the carriage bolt that holds the chute to add an extra secure point to it (add one washer or large wing nut and modify this for future builds Cub Cadet.) I haven’t gotten to mow much with it just once so far but everything worked as I expected. I have not installed the blades yet but the stock blades did a decent enough job.

Wrong blades

Bad design.
Have used this kit for about 6 months now. This is not a good design. The plug doesn’t fit tightly and has lots of gaps that allow grass to hollow out everywhere. This is a dirtier now than without a mulched plug. The blades are just ok. Wouldn’t purchase again for either part.

Grass tougher than blades!
I just bought a new LT1 XT50 Cub cadet and it seems like every month I replace the $80 blades! I live in Florida and have 3 acres of grass however within 3 weeks I start getting strips between the blades in the grass and then within a month I'm replacing the blades, a bit expensive for a lawn mower $80 once a month if I knew the blades were so cheap I wouldn't have bought the mower. I have an exmark 55-in, it has had the same blades on it for 4 years, never replaced them, same lawn. I have tried mulching blades high lift blades and the standard blade you get when you buy the mower. Why can't I get blades with a more hardened steel?

Must have mulch kit
Easy to take the deck off and flip over. Easy to install the blades. If you don't want to buy the blade locking tool you can use any kind of clamps available in your garage. The deck plug took a little force to seat in the groove but nothing unreasonable. The kit does a good job of mulching even though you are mowing much faster than a push mower or lawn tractor. Of course the faster you go the more blades of grass you will miss considering the clippings stay trapped in the deck instead of being blown out.This kit is a must for any self respecting, green stained all white shoe stomping, jort wearing suburb dad mowing machine.

Nice kit, easy to install
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice kit, easy to install. Since I mulch the majority of the time I installed the plug and removed the chute. The blades perhaps are a little lighter gauge of steel than I expected however it works fine on my lawn.

Save your money!
Plug is useless and leaves clumps everywhere. Blades are decent and help cut the clippings up finer. I'm using the blades without the plug because the plug was a waste! Should've saved the money and just ordered the blades.
