Works great as snow plow on XT1-LT42
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a quarter mile long driveway with 12% declivity in parts of it so, plowing by hand is absolutely not an option.
I bought this with chains and one weight kit and so far, I am satisfied by how good it performs even though there are some things I wish this product had.
Assembling was not an easy task at all, I am a healthy guy in his early 50's very capable with my hands and I struggled to assemble it.
First, the manual is not very clear, some instructions are confusing, Cub Cadet should hire random people to try and use their assembling manuals before definitive printing (in IT, this is called the monkey test).
Second, after assembling almost everything came the time to link the blade with the main mechanism but the main pin was missing, I had to order it by phone, no big deal but... that should never happen, missing one random screw is acceptable, missing the main assembling pin is not.
2 days later, I could complete the assembling and I wish there was a mean to connect the blade without lifting this beast, it is heavy, really!!
The assembling was completed during summer time way ahead of winter and after some trials, I was satisfied with how it worked so I dismounted the blade waiting for the season to kick in. Fast forward to end of fall when I decided to be ready for the snow, I removed to deck (very important for the snow season, believe me), then, again, the instruction did not match entirely the XT1-LT42 but I got it, I mounted the blade and then... I could not move anything, the blade was stuck to center position. Back to square one.
I troubleshooted the issue to be a reading error in the assembling manual where the plates attaching to the tractor had to be carefully installed as to permit proper engagement of the lateral pins, the ones that move the blade up and down, that should be better noted because after being used a bit, being removed then re-mounted, the pins did not aligned anymore.
Now everything is aligned, lubricated and working properly.
Operating the thing is pretty easy but I wish the arm had more curvature to reach more easily, I am 6'1 and I have to extend my arm quite a bit to reach the cable levers, so please, for a next iteration, give the arm a slight turn towards the seat.
I already used it twice this year, once with 2 inches of "dry" snow, I could plow very easily up and down hill without chains but I had troubles the second time with 4 inches of "semi wet" snow.
This is where I wish the length of the blade would be higher in diagonal than the total width of the tractor's wheels as on the first pushes with a lot of snow, the wheels get stuck in the mounts of snow when backing up and whether with chains or not, you do not move anymore.
I had to shovel around the wheels several times to get started.
Now with "wet" snow around 4 inches, you will no be able to push too much at a time until the blade or the wheels give up and forget about pushing uphill, not going to happen!! I had to spend twice the amount of time to push 4 inches than 2 just because the amount of snow would not fit in the blade, so you have to push 1/4 of the length of the blade at a time and always down hill. Other than everything mentioned above, I am very happy to have it to remove the snow in my very very long driveway.

Broken 2 times in 2 different storms
I purchased this and installed it working fine. First snow storm 5” of light fluffy snow …. Lift bar falls off at the end connecting it to the plow blade . I spend 20 and fix it from hardware store. Storm #2 today … 1.5” of slush … cable release for lifting breaks and cannot get it fixed . Now to take it all apart and try to fix before the other storm comes 2 days from now. I read the reviews and I was skeptical now I know why.

Let's start with the name "FastAttach". It's anything but fast. It's sent with a thousand pieces and instructions that are not great. After multiple hours I finally got it assembled only to learn that the cables don't work. The blade does not move at an angle like it should. It only goes up and down about one out of three tries. Do not waste your time or money on this product. It's a piece of garbage.

Worthless
Don’t waist your money on this colossal piece of junk. I have a couple of herniated discs in my back so I bought it for my lawn mower to clear my driveway of snow in the winter. The spring on the plow is so flimsy it folds over trying to move 3”-4” of snow that fell of my roof so that its essentially worthless. Now Ive go to rig something to make it useable. For the cost it should be way sturdier.

Just what was needed....

Great little plow
I'm reticent to publish a "full" review of this plow blade at this juncture, as I have only used it a couple of times in light duty snow removal, but I'm duly impressed enough to offer some initial impressions and tips for prospective buyers.
The kit arrived intact, well packaged and inclusive of all parts necessary for assembly. The provided assembly/instruction manual is well laid out and fairly straightforward. Assembly parts were thoughtfully grouped and packaged. As is always the case with "insert part A into part B" instructions, there was some initial head scratching and confusion during unpacking and parts layout, but advanced review of the assembly steps sorted out most concerns. Total assembly time was around 3 hours. Although heavy, I was able to assemble the unit without assistance. This unit was installed on a 2022 CC XT2 GX54D using the existing "FastAttach" bracket on the tractor (the kit comes with a retrofit FastAttach bracket set if needed). The only significant issue I had was with the angle adjustment bracket which was factory assembled backwards, but easily resolved.
Tip #1: lubricate bearing surfaces prior to [final] assembly (not always pointed out in the manual). I used waterproof Marine grease.
As to performance, this plow is absolutely capable of pushing some very heavy wet snow providing your tractor is set up properly. I'm counting myself fortunate the XT2 GX54D is a beast of a machine to start with. I removed the mower deck, and installed good quality rear tire chains. Thus far I see no need for supplemental weights (although that may change), and have not had to use the diff lock. We have a relatively flat 200' U-shaped paved driveway. The ability to angle the plow from the seat is a Godsend. My only complaint with this plow is the single relief spring. It is necessary for a number of reasons, but it is woefully weak despite being set to full tension. I have supplemented this by adding a truck grade rubber tie-down strap to mitigate premature rollover (see photo)....not perfect, but better than it was without.
There is a learning curve to effectively use the plow, and understanding its limitations. In the short time I've had with it thus far I can honestly say it has exceeded my expectations, but the NE winter has just begun. The good thing is, it's almost enjoyable pushing snow with this tractor and plow combination.
Tip #2: make sure to properly set the skid shoes to minimize shave plate drag.
Tip#3: check/tighten bracket bolts, skid shoe nuts, lever screws after first couple of operations.

Doesn’t fit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Attachment is built very strong but it doesn’t fit the fast attach brackets on my XT2, the holes do not line up perfectly where the Pins will go through, the unit came with another set of Fast Attach Brackets and the holes on them only line up partially on one of the brackets.

Beats shoveling!
Instructions were clear and installation was straightforward for anyone with a few mechanical skills and basic tools! Raising and lowering and angle adjustments from the driver's seat are very convenient. Will need to add tire chains to rear wheels for better traction. My wife loves it!
