ZT1 50” Fabricated deck mulching kit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I must say that at first, I was a bit skeptical after reading reviews: it doesn’t fit, or grass blows up into your face, etc.. I am glad I went ahead and purchased it. I first removed the deck and out the new blades on, the reinstalled the deck, and put the grass chute piece on. Yes, it was a little difficult to get it into place with putting the front edge of it under the rolled up section of the deck, while lifting the back of it up enough to get the hole lined up with the threaded stud…but it was literally 30% as bad as I thought it was. It took me about four minutes. Once snapped into place, I tightened the wing nut, then put the little black rubber “cap” back over the stud just to protect the threads from the water that will be sprayed around it while washing the underside of the deck. The fit and finish is great. There are no gaps. If yours has the gaps we read about in the reviews, it is not on correctly. I am not sure if the confusion was due to the stamped deck vs. the fab deck, or what, but it fits beautifully- just like you’d expect a Cub Cadet accessory to fit. If I had to “complain” about something, I guess it would be the fact that you are supposed to put the big plastic grass chute on over top of it. I assume this is safety related, so that if anything were to fly up and crack the plate, you’d at least have the grass chute to absorb the impact, and to keep the projectile from flying up towards you…but there are multiple lawn tractors out there that utilize nothing but a thin plastic shield to cover the opening. In fact, some are held on by rubber “bungy cord” type fasteners. So if you are on the fence, jump for it! You will be more than satisfied with your purchase. Thank you once again, Cub Cadet, for yet another accessory that lives up to your awesome reputation!
