Mulching Kit Review
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall very good attachment. Installation was easy with instructions (don't watch the YouTube directions, not necessary to drop the deck, install from the bottom). Seems to mulch well and cuts the clippings into finer size to fall into the lawn. Does seem to catch a lot of clippings in the deck lip where the plug is located. It's necessary to remove the plug after each cutting to clean out the lip and plug. Just adds to the cleaning of the mower once the yard is complete, not a big deal.

Substandard plug
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installed on ZT1 42". Blades appear to mulch well but the plug doesn't hold in place while mowing. Gauge of the plastic is thinner than most plugs I have seen. Ended up needing to drill holes in the plug to zip tie to the bottom edge of mower deck as in many forums which held up much better. Expected better buying a Cub Cadet product.

Mulching kit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this with high hopes. I am not very pleased. As other reviewers have said the mulching plug leaks grass and clippings blow out from under the deck. Probably more annoying is the patchy uneven cut. I have ended up having to go over some areas twice to get an even cut. Overall, I would say this kit is not worth buying.

Terrible mulching kit
My husband installed this mulching kit on our Club Cadet tractor and we have the same problems mentioned in other reviews. While the blades do a fair enough job, the housing does not stay in place allowing the clippings to either clump in some areas or spray all over our garden beds, sidewalks, and driveway. The clippings also seem to be a bit larger than the ones we had from our old Craftsman mower and mulcher. We are very disappointed in the performance and want to know if Club Cadet has come up with a better solution. Thanks.

Product Works As Described
I have a ton of leaves and other years have raked and bagged upwards to 100 bags then would have to transport them to a depot. I was skeptical of this product after reading the reviews, further looking into the reviews I noticed people were putting this kit on a non Cub Cadet mower. Mine is a Cub Cadet mower and it works perfect, I do have to stay on top of the leaves mower multiple times and wouldn't recommend doing them when they are wet but the product works amazing and is so much easier and cheaper then raking countless bags.

Mulching plug
I finished the first year of mulching frustrated with the mulching plug. I tried many things to make the plug seal the opening, but because of the plastic plug design it is almost impossible to keep the opening sealed which in effect becomes a discharge mower. I ended up in my last attempt drilling a small hole at the bottom of the plug (middle bottom) and ran a piece of safety wire through the hole and around the frame to hold the plug keep to the bottom closed. Too bad the plug wasn't made of metal like the John Deere mowers.

Exactly what I was hoping for
I did not like the grass blowing everywhere when I mowed. I would finish mowing covered in grass, and it would get into my eyes too. These blades and chute cover stopped that. The blades create a lot of suction. Grass no longer blows out everywhere. I'm thrilled with the kit. And if the blower cover is installed exactly like the directions say, there isn't a problem with it coming off. I was tempted to take the chute off of the blower opening, but directions said not to, and I think this is what keeps the chute plug in place.

Broke it
I have not used the blades yet, but the plastic guard is garbage. It doesn't fit correct. Like others have said you still get a lot of grass & debris discharging because of the poor fit. After about the 6th or 7th, the left side of it broke and I just ripped it off completely.
Save your money and rig something else yourself.

Dont waste your tine
Bought two months ago when the discharge chute needed replaced. I spend more time trying to put the deck cover in place and remowing the missed strips than actually cutting the grass. I've tried to make it work and it's just more frustration and disappointment. Will be removing the mulch kit this weekend and trashing it.

Poor design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this when I bought my zero turn. The discharge cover is not very good for keeping the grass in two much. It keeps lifting up and blowing out the grass. Kinda wish I could find a better way to mount it on the deck for better mulching

Mulching attachment.
Mulching kit not working like it should. The side shoot cover does not fit like it should. The grass flies out everywhere around this cover. Also it leaves a trail of cut grass behind the mower. Thinking about selling the mower and buying something else. The mower is only one and a half old.

HORRIBLE PRODUCT RUN AWAY
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you have thick grass do not count on this plug. It will lift and just blow grass everywhere. In order for me to mulch I would have to cut grass every 2-3 days for it to actually work like it should.

Does Not Work
I do not mow my grass too short and I mow weekly. The fitting is off and grass just clumps up around the plate. I have to stop mowing 3-4 times per mow just to clear off the clumped up grass so the blades spin properly. @cubcadet any fix here?

Works as intended...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This kit was easy to install, though the instructions were misleading in regards to removing the existing blades. I personally removed the discharge chute completely to make the deck more narrow so it would fit better on my trailer. Dust and grass does in fact make its way out of the plastic cover. The blades seem to work fine for mulching. All in all this product does perform as intended and was worth the purchase.

Works as intended
Not sure why there is all the bad reviews. It installed easy and mulches as good or better than my "red-brand" push mower, especially once I got the deck leveled in. No trails or clumps of grass when mowing my tall fescue.

Does not fit properly.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love my XT1 BUT, this mulching kit deck plug does not fit tight. Blades are great BUT, as others have said, the tab on one end of the deck plug is not long enough. It slips out of the deck constantly while mulching, causing clippings to shoot out. They don’t remain under the deck to mulch properly. The result is un mulched clippings shoot out as if you just had the standard side discharge.

Dull blades and poroly designed deck plug
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy online order and delivered on time. However, the blades are dull. After the first cut I had to take them out and sharpened them. Upon inspection of the blades, only the outter half appeared to be used effectively. The deck plug is not tight enough, got a lot of crippings stock in the seams after each use. In addition, the installation instructions do not seem to be accurate.

Waste money - cub cadet should be embarrassed
Worst money spent ever! Doesn’t fit right, leaves gaps for grass to clump, doesn’t cut even at all! I get more grass on me than what go back into the ground.
Mower isn’t great either. Very unhappy with cub cadet. The reverse is a laugh. You can get off, push it backwards, get back and start it, in the time it actually goes in reverse where you need it. STRAIGHT UP EMBARRASSEMENT and will not buy anything cub cadet again.

Great if you are willing to modify it to fit XT1
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had to grind the edges of the blades down to fit my Cub Cadet XT1 (purchased the XT1 in 2016). Also, the plastic part that goes over the hole did not fit properly. I had to drill new holes and it sill doesn't fit perfectly, but works well enough to get the job done. Since I had to spend time to modify, I give this a 3 stars.

Decent but difficult
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works well but difficult to install. The directions are not very clear. You absolutely can install this kit without removing the deck, thus saving you a lot of headache dealing with the deck pins. It should include a way to remove the discharge shroud as well but doesn’t include the necessary plus to make it work without it.

Nice mower, problems with mulching kit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] bought tractor 2 years ago. Got mulching kit and same issues as others have mentioned. Grass keeps clumping and spilling out from below the cover. Wife complains. Have tried repositioning, but same issue. Issue is that it won't stay in place and completely cover the opening, so grass spills out from the bottom.

Mulching but not really
I bought this a couple of years ago. Unless I am barely mowing the lawn, the mower kicks up a ton of grass, sometimes misses spots in the middle, and generally just leaves clumps in the yard. I bought the mower with mulching in mind and still use it every time, but it is rarely a satisfying experience. The green mowers next door never seem to have my issue!

Don’t waste your time and money
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought and installed on 1 month old zt1 42”. Tried multiple blade positioning configurations because the manual or instructions don’t specify. Leaves a line of uncut grass even overlapping the tractor half way. Took them off during first use after trying parallel and perpendicular positions.
