Mulching kit complete Dissatisfaction ….
After reading the reviews on the mulching kit, I found it hard to believe that Cub Cadet would produce a kit that would cause the issues that so many other reviewer‘s have articulated
Boy was I wrong!
Every single issue in the poor reviews was quite evident after only one time using this very poorly constructed mulching kit!
This isn’t my first rodeo, having been a parks and sports field maintenance supervisor in a municipal application for some 35 years, and to say that my disappointment is extreme in this mulching kit is only putting it very kindly!
It is everything that a decent mulching kit is not…. The wind rows of Blown out grass that is left behind is completely unacceptable and even mulching it a second time does not solve the problem in its entirety!
My municipal staff here in Ontario has used Toro, John Deere, and Kubota mowers over the years c/w mulching kits as necessary, and we have never ever experienced the issues that this mulching kit has caused!
I quite realize that my use of this kit is in a residential application but my disappointment is beyond anything that this pile of junk can fix!
My cub cadet riding mower is more than acceptable in a residential application but this mulching kit attachment is something that needs to go back to the drawing board ASAP and you probably should reimburse everybody and anybody who has bought this pile of crap!
Am I dissatisfied … you bet I am, and will take every opportunity to articulate same!

Waste money - cub cadet should be embarrassed
Worst money spent ever! Doesn’t fit right, leaves gaps for grass to clump, doesn’t cut even at all! I get more grass on me than what go back into the ground.
Mower isn’t great either. Very unhappy with cub cadet. The reverse is a laugh. You can get off, push it backwards, get back and start it, in the time it actually goes in reverse where you need it. STRAIGHT UP EMBARRASSEMENT and will not buy anything cub cadet again.

Great if you are willing to modify it to fit XT1
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had to grind the edges of the blades down to fit my Cub Cadet XT1 (purchased the XT1 in 2016). Also, the plastic part that goes over the hole did not fit properly. I had to drill new holes and it sill doesn't fit perfectly, but works well enough to get the job done. Since I had to spend time to modify, I give this a 3 stars.

Decent but difficult
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works well but difficult to install. The directions are not very clear. You absolutely can install this kit without removing the deck, thus saving you a lot of headache dealing with the deck pins. It should include a way to remove the discharge shroud as well but doesn’t include the necessary plus to make it work without it.

Nice mower, problems with mulching kit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] bought tractor 2 years ago. Got mulching kit and same issues as others have mentioned. Grass keeps clumping and spilling out from below the cover. Wife complains. Have tried repositioning, but same issue. Issue is that it won't stay in place and completely cover the opening, so grass spills out from the bottom.

Mulching but not really
I bought this a couple of years ago. Unless I am barely mowing the lawn, the mower kicks up a ton of grass, sometimes misses spots in the middle, and generally just leaves clumps in the yard. I bought the mower with mulching in mind and still use it every time, but it is rarely a satisfying experience. The green mowers next door never seem to have my issue!

Don’t waste your time and money
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought and installed on 1 month old zt1 42”. Tried multiple blade positioning configurations because the manual or instructions don’t specify. Leaves a line of uncut grass even overlapping the tractor half way. Took them off during first use after trying parallel and perpendicular positions.

Great product.

Haven't installed mulching blades yet, but I may be doing that next, There are times I still want to bag the cuttings. Especially when multitudes of seeds drop from our trees. Changing blades is always a chore on a rider. Love my Cub Cadet mower.

Works as expected
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pro: Works great - Mulches so I don't need to bag. Con: Grass gets stuck at base of plug and deck. Overall. I love it. Have a small front yard with a gate just wide enough to fit my XT1 42" through but my back yard is a chore for even a self-propelled walk behind. Recommend.

The unit obviously does not fit all of your 42” de
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It did not fit. I had to drill an additional hole and the cover/guard does not completely cover the discharge opening of the mower deck. I’m taking it off and reinstalling the original set up. I wish I had packed it up and sent it back instead of trying to force it to fit.

Great kit
We live in a very windy area. With regular side discharge chaff was blowing over the operator and machine. With mulching kit attached there is zero chaff flying around.
Tip: Dealers want a lot more $ for the kit. I ordered online (cubcadet.ca or .com in U.S.) shipping is free and came to our house.

Very cheaply made
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The cover is super flimsy, while using mulch fester the grass clippings push their way out of the supposed cover. After replacing these blades the cut to the grass is very uneven, not sure if this is something wrong with the tractor or just the mulch blades

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL
The plug doesn't fit properly and the clippings fly all over. The clipping were blowing all over, deck gets covered and if grass is dry, it blows all over you too. Unfortunately, I had a piece land in my eye and scratched my cornea, wound up at the opthemoligest for several treatments. BE CAREFUL!!!

Ya Need it - Some Pain
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you need it, you need it. It works well but getting the blades off the deck was a big pita. Had to remove it completely and take it to the service station to use their air socket gun to remove. All done, everything fits and works as expected.

Needs a better design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the tractor from a dealer with a pre-installed Cub Cadet mulching kit. The side parts fits poorly and lawn keeps getting blown out. I have been using tape and screws but it does not last. Really annoying for such an expensive product.

Mulching cover excuses

I just bought a new XT1 Enduro 42 and wanted to get the mulching kit for it but after reading all the simply put Horrible Reviews. I think I'll pass and shame on Cub Cadet for continuing to put out a inferior product even after all of that the negative reviews

Does The Job
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had to loosen the two screws (do not totally remove them just loosen enough to give some play) on the plug to install it properly but after installing the plug and re-tightening the screws it fit flush.

Great Kit.

Its awful. Blows clipping everywhere theres about a 1/4 inch gap between the plug and the deck. WHen you buy something for your model mower it should fit much better for sure. Frustrating to find the proper kit and part numbers as well. Be better.

Mulch plug doesn't fit well.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have an XT2 with the welded deck. The mulch plug doesn't fit well at all. It seems to be made more for the XT1 decks which are stamped and a little more rounded. The blades worked fine.

Works great with slight mod.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Shield doesn't fit very tight, but i picked up some 1/2" soft foam strips with adhesive back placed it around deck opening. Works great. Blades cut very good. Glad i purchased the kit.

Good not great.

POOR QUALITY MULCHING COVER
XR-2 Model, Kawasaki motor.....Love my mower, but I am at my wits end with the mulching cover. It lets out way too much debris & does not fit & seal properly. Very disappointed & looking for a proper fix ?

Wrong blade hole pattern

Doesn’t stay in place

Easy to install
