Side Discharge Cover is Terrible
The blades work fine but their performance is made obsolete by the poorly fitting side discharge cover. The cover is intended to keep the clippings inside the mower so that they're chopped up into smaller pieces. This cover allows the clippings to be blown out the side and up at the driver. You end up with a trail of clippings that you have to drive over a second time. This means that you are essentially mowing the yard twice! Once to mow and once to compensate for this terrible product from Cub Cadet. The only thing that helps is to duct tape all over the edges of the cover but that only lasts for one mow before it comes off.

Not the greatest design
The kit works OK under the right circumstances, but as others have already posted, the mulch plug is ill-fitting at best. It does leave gaps that allow grass and debris to get trapped. Also, if you leave the deflector on the mower, it can't go down all the way and it rubs on the deck wheel. It needs a better attachment method instead of the plastic "tab" that goes inside the opening of the deck. I'm going to try to engineer something better to hold it in place. As much as these mowers cost, and as much as this kit costs, one would think that they could design a much better mulching cover than this.

Works well under right conditions
The mulching blades work well under the right conditions. There will be clumping left behind if the grass is wet, too tall or the tractor is traveling too fast. I have good results when I I I l good results. Set the cutting height high to begin and then lower it until the clumping begins. Mowing at a slow speed and when the grass is dry will give the best results. That said, I still experience a small line of clippings left behind on occasions.

Pure trash
I purchased this last 2019 to mulch both grass and leafs in Missouri. I can not belive that Cub Cadet engineers, came up with such a piece of garage. During us it will lift up from the mower deck, eliminating the mulching capbility.
Am I up set, you better believe it. Buy a lawn that is supposed to be a good one and turn out not to due the job at all

Don't waste your money
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this season 2 of owning my RXT SX 46 mower. As most of the other reviews state, the plastic mulching cover that is the "Kit" does not fit well at all. I have a JD Freedom mower deck as a backup and it mulches much better. It's really a shame that Cub Cadet sells a poorly designed mulching kit such as this.

Unbelievably Horrible
This is my 2nd Cub cadet mower and had this silly mulch kit been installed on the 1st mower I never would have bought a second Cub Cadet. Coming toward the end of the 2nd season now mowing with this so called mulch kit that was installed prior to delivery. Every single time I mow it rerminds me of what a stupid purchase this was.
I want a mower that mulches without leaving a huge mess everywhere.
I keep coming back here to see if there has been a redesign of this flimsy, ill fitting cover.
Since my mower was delivered last year 3 of my immediate neighbors have bought new riding mowers and I could not recommend to any of them that they consider a cub cadet.
Have purchased some sheet metal and during the off season will attempt to fabricate something to cover the discharge hole from the inside. If that doesn't work then I will probably sell this thing and buy a different brand.
Really I don't have the words to express how disappointed I am with Cub cadet. I think what makes it even worse is that they charge extra for this terrible option. At this point they've lost me as a customer. I don't see myself buying another cub cadet until they resolve this issue with a redesigned mulch cover.
Until then I will continue to suggest people stay away if they plan to mulch.
It's really disappointing and sort of unbelievable that Cub cadet is letting a $35 cover ruin their reputation for quality products.
I kick myself for not paying more attention to this problem before purchasing my 2nd cub cadet!

Mulcher kit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had to modify the deck on my mower to fit the mulcher plate on my 1045. Blades came unsharpened.

mulching kit that doesn't mulch
mulching seems to be tough on lawn tractors, this kit fits well and is easy to install but my mowing deck does nothing but make big clumps of grass in the deck causing me to stop often to clear the deck. in the end i went back to the hi lift discharge/bagging blades, oddly the discharge blades make for fewer clippings on the lawn after the cut. don't worry, i'm not returning this kit as i think it's too hard for a lawn tractor to mulch cut lots of grass at lawn tractor speed. i'll save the kit for cosmetic cuts that don't cut much grass.

Great Mulching Kit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned a named brand Tractor for years with mulching blades. I used it all year long, including in the fall to mulch leaves into the lawn and we live in the woods with TONS of oak trees and leaves. When I bought the Cub Cadet it had bagging blades and so I ordered this kit. I was very concerned that it would not do as good a job of mulching as my current lawn tractor. My worries were set to rest. It does even a better job. Good product at a good price and easy to install.

2 different parts numbers for 46 in Mulch kit
I bought a new XT1 riding mower with the 46 inch deck. I also purchased this mulch kit which states on the box it’s for the 46 in deck. I go to install it only to find out my deck takes an “S” pattern blade vs a star pattern. The correct part number is 19A300047100. Cub, you are better than this.

Does NOT seal
The mulch plug does not seal to the mowing deck. I have resorted to gorilla tape to try and close the gaps between the plug/cover and deck. Very poor design and fitment !

Not as reviewed!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i almost didn’t buy this kit for the poor reviews! I did not find these poor reviews credible!
Mulching is a dry slow process! if you understand that this product is great! Bought a house with a acre of land that had not been raked in some time. Slowly mulched the lawn leaves and all with great success! Admittedly i don’t have nor do I expect to have a golf course green type lawn!

Blade slot doesn't match up to the deck.
I bought this today and have removed it already. The slots do not match up with what is currently at the base of the posts on my deck. Managed to get it situated somewhat and started the mower up and lone behold the blade caused the nut to strip the stud on the deck. The packaging and online states that this product works with the tractor I own.... It most definitely does not and now I have to acquire a new stub for the deck.

Mulching Kit for 46 inch cut Cub Cadet mower
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great product! Kicked myself a dozen times for not having purchased your mulch kit when I first purchased my Cub Cadet. Performs perfectly in even heavy leaf layers; simply pulverizes to near dust and the remainder of cuttings disappear into the grass. Only had to go over the heaviest layers a second time--then they too were gone. Thanks for a great product.

Mulch plug for Cub. Cadet
Very confusing purchase, part number matched that specified in owners manual, however on entering model and serial number of my Cub Cadet lawn tractor on the website, the website said it wouldn’t fit. Couldn’t figure out so called and asked why that would be, service rep response was “I don’t know” Not impressed! Ordered it anyhow and it fit but grass clippings do get through the bottom area of the mulch plug.

Making Hay
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Don't bother. All the bad reviews are right, this mulch plug is trash. I've used two and they both did the same thing. After a short period of time they push out the bottom and your left with rows of discard to bale and tie. Would be OK if I was trying to feed a small pony but I'm not. Too bad this issue makes me hate this mower which is otherwise great.

Happy so far, worth the price.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Arrived quickly, works as expected. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. It's not perfect, but nothing really is. Yes very small amounts of clippings may shoot out around the plug, but no more than when bagging. Cuts grass to a very fine mulch with little/no grass left behind. Pleased overall with this purchase.

I mean it works but…
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just like every other review the plug is cheap plastic that lets grass fly everywhere. I usually end my mow session with 2 inches plus of grass clipping piled on the deck as they leaked out the top of the plug. Need a better design and/or a metal plug.

Does Not Work Properly
I agree with the other reviewers. This is a very poorly designed product. After a year of trying to get the mulching kit to work - it just does not work properly. It shoots grass out the top and bottom of the plug. I could have saved myself some money because it is just like using the side discharge.

Flawed mulch cover design
Certainly surprised that this cover has not been redesigned. It's attaches with a pin that slides and a small tab that consistently pops loose and all held down with a screw that doesn't even sit flush with the deck surface. Have to stop and reattach while mowing or get covered with debris.

Mulching Madness
It is a great kit the only criticism that I would have is that it doesn't completely seal so that you still have grass being blown out of some of the crevices. Other than that it leaves a nice even destruction of grass all across my lawn so overall I would buy again if I need it to

Mulching Blades work great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I installed the mulching kit, I put the grass shoot that came with the mower back on top of the mulching blade cover and it eliminates all the grass people complain about blowing on them. This might help some people.

Poor design
Like everyone else here the chute cover lifts and blows grass everywhere. Horrible design. Other manufacturers that aren't as good as Cub Cadet can make a mulching kit that works. Please do the same and replace all the defective kits that people paid almost $100 for.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Product is great, only thing I would critique is that the instructions provided didn’t mention how to remove the deck from the mower for easier installation. I had to find a video on YouTube to help.

Something that works as described.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The block made of a pliable plastic was easily installed and were the blades as well. Be prepared if you haven't changed blades before the mounting bolts will not be easily loosened.

Poor design and cheap material
If plug were metal and slightly tighter fit it would actually work. I've gone through 2 of these then gave up. Plastic flexes leaks grass and pops off exposing spinning blades. Dangerous to say the least.

Could be better
I would have paid more to get a better cover,
It gets pushed out of place very easily so I end up with a bunch of grass hanging out of the side. I’ll probably put a few screws in it so it stays in place
