Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mower! Bad Tire Pressure. I bought the mower yesterday, and it is great. This is my first zero-turn mower, and I love it. My yard has some oddly shaped areas, and my mowing time has been cut by 1/3 as I can mow these areas much faster. One big issue (and I've seen other reviews about this), is the factory tire pressure was WAY off. The tires expect 10 psi, mine were at 26 and 28 psi, respectively. The "your tires might explode" pressure is 36 psi. Fortunately, I was able to let air out before anything bad happened. Cub Cadet, please double check your factory production line, this seems to be a reoccurring issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lawn Mower! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I gave up on lawn mowing eversince I had a back injury , never though I would be able to mow my lawn again. This lawn mower makes me feel like I am riding a luxy Vehicle on my yard. Its such a joy to Ride it and finishes the job with no effort. Cub Cadet ZT1-42 is very easy to use and zero turn is a nice feature. The safety features are good on ZT1-42 and the mower runs smooth. I like the different grass cut settings and how easy to turn the knob to change the setting. The mower is not big and it easily goes through our backyard gate. Overall I will recommend this mower to everyone with a large yard. Very satisfied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well built with excellent results! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I enjoy using my Cub Cadet ZT1 42 it has made mowing my three acres of yard easy and fun to cut. My yard is not a flat level surface. My yard has several slight inclines and a mixture of ivy, brush and grass throughout it. When I use this ZT1 42 I am impressed with the powerful 725 cc motor and the blades performance. This zero turn mower can power through over grown brush and tall grass effortlessly. The deck blade is simple to adjust from .25 inch all the way to 4.25 inches. I find setting my blade at 3.5 inches is what works best for my yard. The seat is very comfortable to sit on for long periods of time. I love how the seat is easy to adjust and is secured by four heavy duty bolts. The seat is easy to keep clean with a dampened cloth. When I first used this ZT1 42 it was a bit of an adjustment and learning experience for me compared to my previous standard riding mower. It took me about an hour or so to familiarize myself with the lap bar drive controls. The lap bar controls is what I find sets this amazing mower apart from others. The lap bar controls allow me to have complete control of directions at all times. The lap bars make it so easy to cut forward or in reverse for a precise cut around trees, on uneven surfaces, level surfaces and even on slight inclines. Other features I like on this mower is some of it's safety features. The mower will not start when the lap bar levers are in an engaged position. No worries that the mower will start rolling in gear because of this feature. The mower also will not start while the power take off switch is left on an on position. Besides this mower having great safety features as well as creating a comfortable riding experience it also has durable, high quality tires. The all-terrain back tires have thick tread that works well at keeping the mower grounded and pushes the mower smoothly without having any slipping. I have really enjoyed using this ZT1 42 mower the simplicity of use and pinpoint precision cut makes this a fun and exciting way to keep my yard cut. There is even a cup holder to keep a drink near by. Knowing when to maintenance this mower is very easy to keep track of because of the LCD service minder located by the mower controls. The LCD service minder will light up with specific issues and reminders for keeping the mower properly maintenance. I would definitely recommend this ZT1 42 to others because of how amazing it performs and the a powerful motor that allows for a quicker cut time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Update on post I forgot to add pictures: I bought this mower 6 months ago. It has 10.5 hours on it. The only concern is the underneath of the deck is pitting, rusting and the paint is peeling. I have a green plush lawn and I'm not mowing any debris. Should I be concerned that after just 10.5 hours of use I'm seeing this much pitting, rusting and paint peeling or is this normal? I know with steel it's going to rust, but I'm not mowing with moisture on the grass and I have sprayed the underside of the deck regularly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, Love, Love! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the Cub Cadet ZT1 42 and absolutely love it! I was excited to get a Cub Cadet of my own as it was the brand of lawn mower we had when I was growing up. I knew the quality of a Cub Cadet was excellent as my brother still uses the one my Dad purchased 24 years ago! Let me just say the Zero Turn ZT1 exceeded my expectations! I had never driven a zero turn before so I didn't have another to compare it to but I don't need to try another. It was very simple to learn how to operate. I like that you can raise the deck by turn the knob on the left. I thought at first the seat didn't go up far enough for me to easily press the pedal to raise and lower the deck but it was as simple as flipping the seat over and loosening two bolts and sliding it to the position I needed. Most people probably wouldn't even need to do that but I am only 5ft tall. I like the safety feature that if the blades are on and your butt comes off the seat, the mower shuts off. I get excited each time, I get to mow the lawn now! I will definitely be sticking with Cub Cadet!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far Excellent My first zero turn. It’s taken some getting used to. Once I got the hang of it, my mowing times have been significantly less. Exactly what I was looking for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst company I bought the z154 last may and this year in March it started running rough. Took it in for repair, it has a bent rod. Cub cadet refuses warranty saying it is bad fuel but the mower only has 45 hours on it and never any bad fuel . They don’t stand behind their equipment and it’s junk. 3000 down the drain for a lawnmower and will never buy another from this company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I bought this Zero Turn a month ago. It make cutting grass easy and simple. I love how much power it has and how easy it is to pull up a hill. The yard had grass knee high and it went right through it with ease. I love the light in the front. It make it easy to cut if you get caught by the dark I would give this product ten stars if I could.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tons of vibration and uneven cut When you engage the blades there is a lot of vibration. Additionally the mower deck bounces all over the place when you mow, leading to a very uneven cut. I would not recommend this mower. Hoping to sell it even though it is only 1 month old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower Best mower I ever owned. Only complaint is not excellent tight around objects. Would be perfect if deck extended out a little farther on left side past rear tire

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke Down after purchase with 5 hours of use The cub cadet is back at the dealer after 5 hours of use...the low oil pressure sensor triggered engine shut down so it won't run...despite the oil being full and no apparent leaks. I hope the dealer is able to repair it but not happy that I'm having issues with a brand new mower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wow, First mow of the season on this machine Coming from years of lawntractors all types. This is the cream of the crop for sure. The handling is magnificent. The power of the 22hp is unbelievable, cut quality does not suffer at all being that its a stamped deck. Nice sturdy build quality ride especially for a big guy 6ft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great zero turn Love this mower. It gives a great cut, looks good, has plenty of power, comfortable seat, easy to get into for maintenance, meaty tires, solids frame. I chose this over many others and glad I did. I use the 42 for my 1/2 acre and look forward to each mow. Plus it looks great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong and Durable! I purchased this mower about a month ago to replace a 42" lawn tractor type riding mower. This new Cub Cadet ZT1 is a breeze to operate. I love the zero turn feature. I got the 42" so it would fit into my storage shed. Otherwise I would have gone with a wider cutting model. Using this new mower is great, and I'm getting the lawn done in half the time it used to take me. I'm cutting about an 1 3/4 acres of lawn. My only complaint is that this mower rides very hard. It would be a plus if the mower had some shock absorption, either on the frame or under the seat. There are rubber bumpers under the seat, but they are super stiff, and the mower still has a very hard ride. No lawn is perfect, and I have a bad back, so if I ride over a root or a rut, it jars my back pretty bad, even though I'm going slow. I'd also like to see the addition of non skid rubber pads on the painted surface where your feet go while you're mowing. Still, all in all, I am very satisfied with the quality and maneuverability of this mower! It is built well, with a strong frame, a powerful 22hp Kohler engine, and turns on a dime!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best there is!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our riding mower recently died on us so we decided when we got a new one we would upgrade. My husband has always wanted a zero turn so we got this one. I have noticed it has cut our mowing time from 3 hours to a little under an hour. We can now mow around our trees without having to stop and start back or just weed eat them. Our yard does have a few little hills in it and this mower will still cut as smoothly and evenly as it does in the flat parts of our yard. It does have working headlight on the front which I am guessing is led lights because they are bright and make mowing at dusk or dawn easier. It also have a wagon hitch which we use to haul smaller sticks and leaves out of the yard. We have had no problems with attaching the wagon or with it coming loose. This does seem to be very well made and seems to be made from high quality parts. The deck height is easy to move as well as the steering bars. We have had no problems with the bars sticking or being hard to move. Overall, We are in love with this mower! If you are looking to upgrade or just looking for a new mower you need to give this one a try!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from OMG The Tires! Bought this for a acre lawn, mostly flat. I added the mulch kit to it. The blades, while just sharpened, do not cut thin and light grass, nor clover flowers. Just today I honed those blades where I could easily cut paper and it left long strips of uncut grass. Yes the blades are on correctly. The deck is level and undamaged. The spindles are solid. I'm thinking thin and light grass is just blown down when the blades pass over them leaving a lot uncut. The tires that come with it are horrible and chew up my grass as they have virtually no grip. One control are seems to have more oomph than the other and I spin the tires frequently. on a slight slope near my ditch, I have to go ultra slow as if one wheel spins it will literally turn the machine in to the ditch. Not at all happy with the over all situation.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Barely used before breakdown First few uses, my husband loved the mower. Then it started failing afte mowing for about 10 minutes, consistently. Same issue over multiple days and attempts. It had less than 7 hours on it before failure. We have now paid out over $500 in bare minimum lawn maintenance costs while we wait for it to be repaired. Not a good first time Cub Cadet experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid machine very well built Purchased this machine a while back only got to use it a few times because of the drought. I was so impressed with the quality of cut a d the ease of adjustment. Only recommendation I could give would be to have some kind of assist handle to get up out of the very comfortable seat without pulling or pushing on the controls.
