My previous mower was a cub cadet 997 with the front casters. I was excited when Cub Cadet offered the 28" to compete with the Toro Timesaver. I looked at the 33" versions, but seemed difficult to manuver for what I needed. I purchased my CC600 from local independent dealer last month fully assembled and ready to go. This exceeded my expectations. I installed the mulching blades and the cut is awesome. I was concerned about the 195cc being underpowered, but handled well. The electric start and no choke is great. The mower runs smooth over rougher terrain and the over-sized thick rear wheels are smooth. I hope this is as durable as my previous walk behind. Cub Cadet hit a home run on this one!!

Great features on this mower
I wanted a walk behind mower bigger than the standard 21" but not as big as some of the 33" mowers. This mower is great and it let's me choose between bagging, side discharge or mulching. The bagger is very easy to get on/off the mower and it has a large capacity so you are not emptying the bagger every couple of passes. Mulching is a breeze and its able to handle thicker and longer grass than other mowers. The electric start option makes starting the mower very easy. Folding the handles is easier than any other mower I've owned. Simply press down on the lever with your foot and the handles fold up. Much different than other mowers. This is a great mower and cheaper than the Toro 30" walk behind. Cub cadet shipped quickly when ordering through their website.

Saves time!
I've waited to write this review. I purchased the mower in the beginning of July, so I've used it numerous times. Over all I'm very pleased with it. It cuts well and has plenty of power.
I have a 1/3 acre lot with 11 trees and other obstacles to mow around. What used to take 2 hours to mow and trim now takes 65 minutes! I haven't tried the bagger yet, but I will as more leaves come down.
I wish the front wheel adjustment was more convenient, fortunately I don't change height often. I also wish that one didn't have to change blades when using the bag. I guess those are minor complaints when I compare the time saved on a weekly basis when mowing!
I was concerned that having a more powerful engine than my previous 22" mower, I would use more gas. Not the case! Running the mower for so much less time, I actually use less gas!

smooth and fast
first off I almost did not get it as the reviews where not perfect. but realizing only 5 reviews and and two poor ones are about the bagging system I had an idea as to what may have happened with those two after doing some more research. This comes with mulching blades installed. I ran them with the bag and yes it was not perfect. I than put on the high lift bag blades and it was flawless. now my problem is I cant tell what half of the yard I like best, the mulched side or the bag side !!!
If I had to try to find a problem maybe it would be the need to change blades. Is there a High lift mulch blade for this mower ? It would be nice if you wanted to mulch all you would need to do is remove the bag shoot.
This is fast and smooth and my wife likes it too as it is so easy to start ! this is a must if you are looking for a wide mower.

Love it
I've had my 28" CC600 for about a month now. I had a 22" self propelled Toro, so the front caster wheels took some getting used to, but I love it now. I will say the max walking speed is a little slower than my Toro, but with the extra width it still cuts about 10 minutes off my mowing time of 1/3 acre. I've used the discharge shoot and the mulch plug and have't had problems with either, but I have not tried the bagger yet.

better finish cut than my hondas
overall very happy with this mower , after taking it out of the box all the nuts where lock nuts all wiring neatly routed. I mow for a living in Central Texas so its in and out of a trailer 6 days a week and i live a mile of the main road so its bouncing around on my trailer on a dirt road. have been using it for 5 months and no problems , i use full synthetic oil , high octane fuel and have changed the air filter a couple of times.
things i like about it :
1: electric start and caster front wheels , in 100 degree heat ,saving energy is big an pushing a button to start adds up , and with the casters just a push to the right or left turns it.
2: has a big metal transmission , not plastic like some lower end models that use the my speed style transmission
3: alum blade spindles , you'll see these same spindles on larger riding mowers made by mtd.
4: full metal large idler pulleys that you would find on a $5k plus mower
5: engine doesn't burn oil and it stays clean , the tolerances of piston and bearings must be right on.
6: this mower comes with mulching and bagging blades, i like the mulching blades because 95 percent of my customers are mulch mows and when i need to bag i use my honda.
7: very high quality cut because of deck design and 2 small little 14 inch blades buzzing around in there , high blade tip speed equals a better cut
8: quick change oil drain hose makes it neat and fast.
9: auto choke and throttle make it real easy for the home owner , for me thats not a big deal .
10: used the discharge chute a few times for high grass and does a decent job.
11: blade clutch shuts off the blades and engine still runs , if you have to pick something up on the yard. this feature is found on commercial mowers
12: air filter has a very good seal to the engine mount
things i dont like :
.
1. even with high lift blades for bagging the shoot will still clog at times . i guess if your cutting only an half inch of growth at a time it might be ok. i use it as a mulch mower anyway..
2: since the blade spindles have gaps between them and the deck,( i thinks thats for cooling), grass gets sucked up in the pullys , belts and idlers and it gets packed with grass ... so i run the mower with the cover off then i can blow the grass out after each mow and help prevent cross contamination between lawns
thats it, a great finish cut mulch mower

Perfect upgrade for a home owner
I needed wider and faster but didn't want to buy what the "land scrapers" use. This fit the bill! Not over priced, a lot of great features, this mower is a beast!! I upgraded from the club cadet 21" rear wheels drive with the caster wheels. I think the only thing I would change would be a larger gas tank...

Great Mower, minor issues.
I did a good deal of research on wide mowers before I purchased the Cub Cadet CC600. I had it narrowed down to 3 mowers (Cub, Troy-Bilt, & Craftsman) until I found out that they are all basically the same model. What sold me on the Cub vs the others was the bagger and the caster wheels. With the large size of the mower, I wanted the one that turned with ease and bagged grass. The mower took 7 days to get to the store, which was 2 days sooner than estimated. Once the mower was home and unpacked, I noticed that the cheap, plastic wing nuts used to hold the caster wheels in place was already broken. Now I knew that they were cheap plastic and had planned on purchasing metal wingnuts in the future, but not right out of the box. So when you decide to get this mower, pick up two 1/4-20 metal wingnuts or knobs ahead of time. I went with the knobs for ease of use. I then started to assemble the bagging unit and noticed that the deck stud used to secure the bagging tube was completely painted over. Do not try to hand tighten the knob onto it! I did and the stud completely snapped off! I'm not the type of person to put it back in the box and take it back immediately, so I sought another solution. I drilled out the remainder of the snapped stud, sprayed the area with clear enamel paint, and used a zip-tie to secure the tube. It works great... Not as good as the original design, but that did work either... Then it was time to change the blades to the "high lift" versions for bagging grass per the one line in the instructions... Now not a problem for me, but I can see a potential problem for those who don't have big tools. You need a 15/16th (that's almost 1 inch!) socket or wrench to remove the nut for each blade. If you don't have one, pick it up when you get those wingnuts...LOL. Everything else is great with the mower! It cuts great and is very fast too. It is very easy to turn with the caster wheels, and you can leave them unlocked and still mow perfectly straight lines. My mowing time went from 1 hour down to 20 minutes with the Cub Cadet! I noticed it was a time saver in the amount of time I needed to dump the bag, versus the extra 7 inches of deck width, although that did help too! I like that the bagging tube throws the grass clippings to the top rear of the bag so that it fills completely. Be aware that the full bag of grass will weigh significantly more than the bag of a smaller mower, approx 50-60 lbs worth... And the best part is how all the neighbors will come over and stare at your new machine because it's got the looks! I love to show off the beast and show them how easy it is to tame. So even though I had some minor issues at first, I would still highly recommend this mower to anyone looking for a larger mower than a standard 21 inch, but not want a riding mower. I will update this review if anything goes wrong.
P.S., It DOES come with the battery charger!
