Do not buy for a 42" XT1.
This product is a disaster. I have confirmed that it is the right accessory for my mower (42" XT1). The blades are fine. But the plug wiggles loose and barely restricts the mulch from spraying out to your side. I am glad to see so many similar reviews, as it at least confirms that I am not doing anything wrong. I have tried to strap/bolt the plug down but honestly, it is more efficient to just remove the plug and let the blower do its thing. At least the mulch is spread a fair distance. The awful, dysfunctional plug ends up depositing huge piles of clippings behind my machine.
The mulching blades seem to do their job well.
This product needs re-engineering ASAP.

Fast delivery and great performance
I purchased the Xtreme Mulching Kit for my new XT1 LT42 Club Cadet Lawn Tractor. The tractor had not been used prior to installation. Removal of the cutter housing was relatively simple and the same for the regular blades that came with the tractor. The chute removal was simple as well. I installed the new mulching blades and cap for the chute opening and reinstalled the cutter housing with ease. I am very pleased with the cut and mulching of the grass. I saw some previous complaints on grass collecting around the cap but only had minimal strands at the end of the cutting which were easily removed by undoing the cap. I was surprised to see zero clumping of grass on the inside of the cutter housing. Delivery was fast as well. I am happy with the quality and performance of the tractor and the mulching kit.

Great, once you get it installed.
Only issue was with the chute plug - it is very difficult to install. Getting the front bar in is easy enough, but the back tab, support wire and then getting it in to the threaded post to install the wing nut is near impossible.
Blades cut great. Be sure to level the deck to minimize any climbing.

Does Not Fit Properly
Blades are great but the shroud insert does not fit the XT2 42” deck properly. After struggling to make the plastic shroud fit the deck, I decided to drill another hole in order to secure the shroud. The wire retaining piece held in place for 20-30 minutes. Overall, POOR fit!

Meh...
The plug does not really work, the grass acumulates in the crack and leaves big chunks in the yard. I will try to secure it with zip ties.. thats what everybody seems to be doing.
Sucks I have a beautyfull tractor and I need to drill holes and put zip ties..

Wrong blades
The mulching attachment itself was fine. Unfortunately the types of blades supplied were not correct for my mower. The on line ordering information available did not make it clear that the 42 " mower has at least two different types spindle fittings.

Mulching Blades
New zero turn. Purchased the mulching blades because we do not like side discharge. Works perfect. Read online that it still get up on the deck via a hole. Not sure what they are talking about because this one doesn't! Very happy with purchase.

For Stamped Deck
Mulch blades OK, but the plastic plug is designed for a stamped deck. It will not fit a fabricated deck I have despite description. I had to purchase item 631-08182 which is the plug for a fabricated deck. Wasted $.
