Great addition but.........
I've had my platform for one full season and I'm heading into my second year. The platform is strong, sturdy and well made, but.....and I can't figure out how this got missed.... the locking mechanism to keep the platform either raised up or locked down is simply a small carriage screw and a plastic covered wing nut. I was so impressed with the thick steel all around and the strong attachment mechanism, but how did the ball get dropped in locking the platform in the raised and folded position or when lowered flat? I have to fish my hand down into the thick steel while trying to locate the small hole the carriage screw goes, get it into that hole, then hold the carriage screw with one hand while putting on this molded plastic wing nut. It's like the platform was engineered by a great team, but while they all sat back admiring their work someone said "Uhoh, we forgot to include a quick and easy lock to keep our awesome platform up or down". And in the scramble to get that included while hot steel was being forged, the solution was this screw and wing nut.
Look, I love Cub Cadet, love this platform and as I am an amputee, the convenience of throwing something to carry on the back helps so much, but couldn't we have come up with a better idea? Maybe a hitch pin that could even use the same hole the carriage screw went in? I say yes because I went down to my hardware store today and for $5 plus tax got me a hitch pin that even came with a cable I attached that will keep me from losing it out in my yard.
Keep up the good work as Cub Cadet products are always my go to, but don't fumble the ball so close to the goal line!
