Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could cut grass ALL day. Bought over a month ago. Best money spent. We have a fairly steep ditch line and I wasn’t sure how it would do, it makes short work of it. My neighbor hadn’t cut his grass yet this year(July) til I showed up. 2 1/2 acres of 3’ grass in 2 1/2 hours now look like a golf course.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought after spending over $7000 on a professional series mower, it would cut better than my craftsman tractor. It cut WORSE! After 30 hrs, the valve cover gasket also started leaking, making grass clippings stick all over engine. But I have the steering wheel model and it DOES mow slopes better than a lever controller.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mower is awesome on hills. Good value. Not perfect The good: This mower sticks to hills like no other zero turn. I even tried out an Altoz and was sliding all over my hills whereas this mower stays well planted and controllable at all times. As a point of reference, I am cutting hills that measure 25 degrees. The fuel consumption with the EFI engine is also about 30% lower than with my last carburetor engine. The deck adjustment on this also has a spring to counterbalance the weight which means you are no longer fighting the weight of the deck to make adjustments. You can also turn in place without destroying your grass, unlike most zero turns which leave witness marks. The price is also very reasonable. The mediocre: While the mower offers a ton of value, I feel like a few small improvements would really improve my overall perception of the quality of the mower. The back side of the transmission belt on my mower rubs against several spots under the deck. This is putting some wear marks on the back side of the belt. I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a long-term problem. Also, my last two mowers left much better stripes, even without a striping kit installed. This mower doesn't leave any stripes without a kit. I also am not a huge fan of the reverse pedal positioning, it is requires completely lifting and repositioning your heel to go into reverse. The reverse pedal is also very sensitive compared to the forward pedal due to it's limited travel. I also wish the adjustment on the arms offered finer control, it is limited to 4 settings, none of which are perfect for me. Lastly, I wish the steering wheel had the ability to telescope and offered another joint for adjusting the steering angle. While it's not horrible, I can't quite get the seat and wheel adjusted so that the steering wheel falls into a comfortable spot. The bad: The mulching kit leaves A LOT of un-cut stragglers (cutting at full RPM, 3 inch cut height, deck blades are level side to side and set 1/4" higher in the rear per the manual, and taking <1" off of the grass). It appears to me that the Cub Cadet mulching blades just don't have enough lift. My second complaint is with the discharge chute kit. The rubber flap is too flimsy and is already getting chewed up by the blades where high spots in the lawn have bumped into the rubber flap and pushed it into the blade. The rubber flap should really have a stiffer backing material. This is a $400 kit and the flap is turning into garbage after only 4 mows.
