Upgrade From XT1 LT42
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I previously had the XT1 LT42 lawn tractor with the 18HP Kohler engine, and 42" deck. My uncle has it now since my grandfather passed away....so, I figured I'm getting a new mower, I'm gonna upgrade....so I got the XT2 GX54D. This is a very nice upgrade. Larger engine, 54" fabricated deck, and an upgraded transaxle with differential lock.
I've only put 11 hours on it so far, and I can say, its a beast of a mower. I mow about an acre a week, and I had the mulching kit installed by the dealer before I picked up the mower. The mulching capability is great, and it side discharges extremely well also, something my other lawn tractor did great too.
I added the sleeve hitch to this mower, and I'll be getting a couple of implements for it. I have a tow behind 25 gallon sprayer and this lawn tractor has no trouble pulling it when its full of spray solution. I also have an old lawn/garden trailer that this lawn tractor pulls with ease as well.
The rear differential locker on this is a huge help, I've had to use it a couple times earlier this spring where the ground in a couple spots was softer than I thought. With the diff lock engaged it was able to continue moving where I would have been stuck without the diff lock.
The fabricated 54" deck is a great upgrade to the cheaper stamped decks for sure, although the fabricated deck is heavier, the cut quality is great, and the underside of the deck is easier to clean.
Seat is very comfortable, and adjustable forward and backward...the arm rests are a nice touch too.
When I picked up the lawn tractor at the end of 2024 the dealer had to jump start it as the battery was dead. After getting it home, I had to jump start it again to get it off the trailer. Once I got it out in the shop, I disconnected the battery, and installed a 2 wire quick connect plug on the battery for my battery maintainer/charger. I left the maintainer on the battery for the winter, and I haven't had any issues with it starting since I took delivery of it.
I do not bag my grass, so I don't have a bagger for this mower but they are available if needed.
I like that this model has the separate choke control from the throttle control, and has the electric PTO engagement.

Solid performer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to help me tackle some aggressive terrain, rough surface, and steep hills on a good size property. So far it has been a champ. The locking rear diff has been a major help in climbing hills while towing a cart filled with deadfall, or dragging large limbs, etc. I'm only about 12 hours into operation, but the first 12 have been fantastic.

Nice mower

The only complaint I have is that I wish this this mower with the diff lock was made with a 50" deck as well. The larger deck does scalp my yard in a couple places but overall, a nice machine.

Residential mower/snowblower
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good machine I went with this one because it had the heavier duty rear end for blowing snow and the Posi-traction option. Overall seems to work well and cuts even. Blades are easy to change. The only issue I’ve had is a seal went bad in the rear end and it was all under warranty.

Awesome tractor
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tractor is awesome. It is so easy to steer compared to my 18 year old tractor, I thought this had power steering. It has plenty of power to move the tractor up steep hills and to mow tall grass with the 54" deck. I haven't needed the locking differential yet, but when I aerate it will come in handy.

Fits my needs just fine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my favorite rider. I also have Deere,but this one fits me better. GSX, 54"fab deck. Other than routine maintenance, I have had no problems with this. I do miss this in the Cub lineup.
