Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Awesome!!! I bought the ZT1 42 about three weeks ago and have used it twice already....looking for another reason to get on it again soon. I have had all sorts of mowers before but this is my first zero turn and while it takes a little getting used to the steering, you quickly get a good handle on it the more you use it. I have a little more than 2 acres with lots of trees and a pond so I'd say my actual mowing is down to about an acre. I am able to handle it fairly quickly, takes slight hills and dips with ease, mows right through clumpy grass and brush without a problem.....all in all, it's a beast so far! One month in and I'm a VERY happy customer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes grass cutting fun! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This mower has changed how I feel about cutting the grass. Steering, backing up and braking are so easy. The seat is very comfortable and easy to adjust. It even has a cup holder. The blade is sharp and does a great job of cutting the grass evenly. It has the power to handle the slopes and slight hills of my yard with ease. The location of the engine makes it easy to change the oil or perform maintenance. I am very pleased with this mower and recommend it to anyone with a large yard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mower! I bought this mower April of 2019 and have used it appr. 5 times. It provides a really nice cut, performs well and exceeds my expectations. The mower is built solid and is definitely at a very reasonable price point for what you're getting. I mow appr. a half acre so the 42" was the largest mower I could fit in my yard. Only time will tell how durable it will be, but with the construction of this mower I suspect it will last a long time. If you are looking for a solid residential mower with great features and a reasonable price point, this is it! Don't hesitate to buy this mower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressed! I just bought the zt1 42" two days ago. Ive operated many zero turns and this one i must say impressed me in its all around mow-ability. Its fast, rides smooth in rough terrain and gets the job done. Vertically ive not had one hill give me a problem, horrizontally almost any incline is shakey.. Still yet glad i bought a cub cadet as my first zero turn.. Oh and im using it commercially not residential.. Approx 40 yrds per week!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well Built, comfortable machine Got my Cub in May. I've mowed my acre-an-a-half four times. Very comfortable seat. The handle adjustments provide several options to get your arms in the most comfortable position. I do like the pedal to raise the deck and the dial to adjust cutting height. I prefer the manual choke like my Toro had. CC's choke on the throttle lever makes it unclear when you are at full throttle and out of choke. Also, there is a detent at mid-throttle position. Engine RPM sounds the same as at full throttle, but if you engage the blades with the throttle at this detent position the engine stalls and dies. Not clear what this detent throttle position is for. The Kohler engine seems louder than the Toro's Kawasaki, but I use good quality ear protectors in either case. The Kohler engine does seem to go through fuel much quicker than the Kawasaki. All-in-all though, I am very pleased with my Cub Cadet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Mower, HORRIBLE Tires Really like the tube chassis. It's everything it's sold to be for easy access, tough, and easy to clean. Performance wise the mower has been good. However, the engineers really failed with the rear tire choice. The 8" tires have absolutely no traction and constantly turf up my yard. Regardless my driving or the condition of my lawn, they turf my grass. My yard has moderate slopes and I rarely mow when it's damp. Doesn't matter. A 1° slope is too much for this lower to turn on... I'm seeking to upgrade to 10" wide tires.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Update on post I forgot to add pictures: I bought this mower 6 months ago. It has 10.5 hours on it. The only concern is the underneath of the deck is pitting, rusting and the paint is peeling. I have a green plush lawn and I'm not mowing any debris. Should I be concerned that after just 10.5 hours of use I'm seeing this much pitting, rusting and paint peeling or is this normal? I know with steel it's going to rust, but I'm not mowing with moisture on the grass and I have sprayed the underside of the deck regularly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ultima I love the agility of the machine and the deck adjustment pedal and dial. The grips and seat are nice. Could use a little more dense padding in the seat bottom. Super sexy and runs well. I added a mulching kit and I'm getting a lot of noise in the spindles and the cut is less than perfect at higher speeds. So looking into that issue if it is one or if it's just the zero turn does not function at higher speeds without utilizing side discharge. One frustrating thing was noticing a squealing in the left front caster. Luckily I'm slightly handy and realized the factory had failed to lube that caster with grease. Once I did the sound went away.
