Don't wait as long as I did to enjoy mowing again!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First mow with the new 2022 ZT1 54 and I am blown away! My house lot took 20 min down from the hour it normally took on my old lawn tractor (it will get fast as I am still getting use to the steering). My big lot took 58 min down from 4+ hrs. I also saved gas too. It usually takes me 8+ gals of gas to mow both yards with to old lawn tractor. I might have used a little over 2 gal to do both yards today. Man, I'm impressed! This is time I get back that I can spend with my family and friends! I had wanted one of these mowers for years. Now, I just wish I had done it sooner!

Cheap, poorly made mowing deck
The mowing deck on this model is cheaply made and breaks easily. I bought mine in May and have already had to have some of the mechanical parts and the chute assembly replaced. That took a little over 3 months. After finally getting the mower back this week, the new chute assembly bracket that holds the chute in place broke on the very first usage. Also, part of the bottom of the deck frame broke causing a massive vibration that results in one of the blades to occasionally strike the frame. Useless! After 6 months of ownership, I've gotten 3 months of usage. Not exactly worth the price.

Engine boggs down when engaging blades
I have always been a fan of cub cadet. I presently have the zt1 54. The first three years of use were uneventful. Last year, it suddenly began having issues of bogging the engine down when engaging the blades. It has less power and uses twice the fuel. I have changed the plugs multiple times, replaced air and fuel filters and even replaced the carburetor with a factory kohler carb. I took it to a factory authorized repair shop last summer and they only changed the plugs again. Im at a loss and very disappointed. Considering trading for a different brand. A mower this expensive should last longer than 3 1/2 summers of use.

Eats Belts
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's barely a year old and I just ordered the fourth(4th) deck belt. Warranty is a joke because I have to carry the thing an hour away to get it assessed/fixed. Meantime my grass will get 2 feet high while I wait on that, then have to drive another 2 hrs to go back and get it. Otherwise, it mows just fine when it has a deck belt on it.

Good Mower with wrong blade design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this mower and really like most of the features. It would be nice if it came with an hour meter. My big complaint is that when I went to shop for a few pair of replacement blades, I can not find them many places. When I find blades they are three times the price of any other 54" mower blades. I can't find any options on blades like the good old star design blades. The "S" design center hole is a BIG mistake. I ordered three replacement spindles with a star design for less than three replacement blades would cost. I will be using the smarter, more available, lower costing star design center blades on my new Cub Cadet mower. I will be throwing away the "S" design spindles. If I knew about the dumb "S" center hole blades I would not have bought this mower. I think you can still get this mower with a star center hole blade design. Other than that, this is a good, strong, fast mower and I think it will last a long time.

Don't buy it drive belt came off the second day of mowing and now a couple of months later the spindle bearings are bad. I can't have my mower broke down and in a shop for weeks at a time. Please test one before you buy it you might change your mind

Applied and got a cub credit card to buy this mower then found out it can only be used online on Cubs site. The site wouldn’t ship or give me the option to pick up at my local dealer ( even after talking to CS telling them the dealer has 3+ on-site). Ended up having to apply for the local dealer financing. Should have skipped everything about the online stuff and life would have been better. Instead I wasted a week trying to work with them.
