This replaces our older cub 1440 that needed a break after 25+ years of faithful service. The old girl's still kicking, just for hauling, no mowing. The 54" deck is a great size and works in both the orchard and the berry rows with minimum passes. The new girl cost a bit ($$$$) but very impressive zero turn - the steering wheel was the clincher on the sale. This newer unit is sturdy/well built.

It cuts grass so fine that you have no visible piece of grass lying on your lawn after cutting, even if you cut 2 inches off. It starts easily and with a steering wheel it far outperforms those with lever arms as there is very little of a learning curve to using it the first time you start it up.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At this point I have a little less than 10 hrs on the machine but I'm completely satisfied, very impressed even. The quality of the cut and maneuverability is way above my ancient John Deere 455 60" which the Cub Cadet is replacing. I'm still getting use to the whole zero turn thing but I can't see ever going to the lap bar style after using this system. The only thing that slightly concerns me is some of the low brances of trees I cut around contacting the arm rests and control panel structure. But that would seem to be common to all mowers of this type so I'm just going to cut some of the low brances to give me more clearance. The quality and attention to detail seem very high high and it looks great. As I'm sitting here this morning writing this review I'm actually looking forward to doing some mowing later today and that's a real change!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect zero turn for slopes [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Into my second season with my ZTS2, after upgrading from a regular zero turn. The ZTS2 opens an entirely new set of options on how I can mow, now that I have the ability to side slope. As a result, tearing up turf has also been reduced, since you don't need to put reversing force on the (less loaded) upper drive wheel, to prevent free mastering front wheels from pulling the front down hill. Plenty of power to mow up the steepest embankment too. There are a few cons though. The left side deck doesn't stick out enough to go around the typical diameter mulch bed of trees, without the rear wheel being in the mulch. The steering is a bit on the heavy side, (understandably, to make steering fast to go from lock to lock) and the reverse mow safety is ridiculous. (thank ambulance chasing lawyers for that) Minor concerns, and nothing that would ever have me regret getting this mower. I LOVE the translucent fuel tank. Maintenance has been easy to perform. The mower blades are heavy duty, reminiscent of when I use to run a full commercial Kubota mower. And of course, I appreciate the fabricated deck. It's almost the perfect mower.
