EXCEEDS ALL EXPECTATIONS!
After using a push mower for the last 15 years at my current property, and being continually aggravated with the mowing results, my neighbor generously offered his rider for my use. After a few uses, I knew right then and there that to reduce the time and unsatisfactory results, I needed to upgrade to a quality lawn tractor. After many hours of research, I visited a Cub Cadet Dealer and reviewed the XT1 and XT2 series. Decided to go with the XT2 LX42 as it had plenty of power and performance from the Kohler Twin Engine! I also optioned for the Cub mulching kit.
After the first mowing, I knew I had made the right choice! This machine leaves a beautiful cut and has the necessary tight turning radius to easily handle the minor obstructions I have to deal with. I am currently at 8 hours of ownership, and now, for the first time in many years, actually look forward to mowing our lawn! My wife also shares the duties, and is very comfortable using the XT2.
I performed the 5 hour service, and was pleasantly surprised at the ease of maintenance of changing the oil and filter; along with servicing the air filter. And should the fuel filter need service, it's right there above the oil filter offering easy access.
Machine controls are well thought out: simple activation for reverse mowing, easy manipulation of forward and reverse foot controls, plenty of deck height options with ease of use, convenient blade engagement controls, all the necessary safety features, and a super comfortable seat with armrests. I also use the Smart Jet deck washing feature after each mowing.
At this point of ownership, my Wife and I are completely satisfied with the features, performance, and price of this well engineered mower. Highly recommended!!!!!!

Great riding mower
I checked out all the big brand names and did a comparison of all the features I wanted. I was surprised when the XT2 came out at the top of the list. I have never owned a cub, but have owned a JD and Husk. I really like the upgraded engine on the XT2. Plenty of power and good on gas. I also really like the reverse cutting feature of the cub. You set the key in a different position, press a yellow button once, and you are good for your entire cutting time. Also worth mentioning is the steering of this guy. It is hands down the easiest mower to steer I have ever tried. It is almost like it has power steering! This mower is really fast too. I think it is rated at 5.5mph, but it easily beats that. I still have my old Husk which is rated the same, but the cub blows it away. My only complaint about this mower is the starting. The starter sounds very rough, almost like its grinding, but that seems to be the norm. All in all, great job Cub!

Great Features at a Competitive Price!
I did a lot of research, creating a spreadsheet with eight 42 inch tractors in consideration. Cub Cadet XT-1 42 In. won out, but when I went to my local Cub Cadet dealer, the move to the XT-2 with a two-cylinder Kohler engine was an easy choice for a comparatively small premium.
The machine's controls are very well thought out with easy and logical foot controls that keep your hands on the wheel once you start mowing. The quick shift to mowing in reverse is a real time saver...my old machine required a button to be depressed every time I wanted to back up with the blade engaged. The easy transition to mowing in reverse, easy foot control of an impressive speed range, coupled with a remarkably tight and easy turning radius has cut my mowing time in half! It has a comfortable seat that is easy to adjust if I ever let my wife get on it. I recently had to cut wet grass, and the built-in Smart Jet system for washing under the deck was great!
I purchased through an authorized Cub Cadet Dealer rather than a big-box retailer and highly recommend that. They delivered my tractor fully assembled, accurately adjusted, and ready to go to work. They took care of all my registration and the postcard back from Cub Cadet acknowledging my purchase was a nice touch! I can tell that maintenance is going to be easy and I am very pleased with this machine. It earns my highest recommendation.

Upgared to the Cub Cadet from John Deere
My local tractor supplier recently switched from a John Deere provider to Cub Cadet. I was skeptical when I first stopped in. I had previously purchased a john deere from them and used them for regular service. When the owner told me he was excited to have had the opportunity to sell cub cadet I was surprised thinking John Deere was the industry standard. However once I saw and sat in the new XT Enduro series tractors I was blown away. the styling and features far out weight those offered on the John Deeres. The elevated ride height, powerful engines and well thought out controls placement, and ultra comfortable high back seat all made my decision easy. I had read horror stories about the kohler engines but the sale agent assured me that those issues were on the earlier models and were all fully coved by the manufacturer. I have owned the tractor now for a few months and really enjoy cutting the lawn. My only complaint would be that the engine is much louder than my previous model.

I just bought this Cub Cadet XT2 LX42 today and I love it !!! I read a lot of reviews on all the other brands and decided on this model . I'm mowing a 1/4 acre and behind my property is my brother-in-law who has 1 acre that I mow also . It's early to judge the mower now but so far no complaints except when the lawn done . LOL

Got this in April to start the mowing season.. So far this is a great riding yawn tractor.. I watched them uncrate it at the dealer put gas in it, checked the oil, installed the bumper, fired it up and I ran around the area.. Received it the next day, mowed yard and haven't looked back.. Would highly recommend this unit..

OVERALL EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS
I have been very impressed with this mower. Tight turns, great cut, more than enough power and good traction. My only complaint is that the "cruise control" were a little easier to use and engaged at lower speeds. The XT2 is only $200 more than the XT1 and well worth it.

Sorry I waited so long to purchase
As with most everything I buy that I try to save money on (new or used) it never seems to work out. Needed a unit with a bagger and primarily used for leaf removal and heavy grass mowing, so bought another single cylinder brand for less money and it was a disaster from the start. Carb was never right and sould have sent it back right from the start. Worked on carb (clean and rebuild) to the point I was totally frustrated with it and bought a brand new carb for it, installed it after cleaning fuel tank and replacing the in line fuel filter for the umpteenth time, and it still stalled and balked.
The Cub Cadet has given us no problem whatsoever. The twin cylinder engine is a much better approach for me having had twin cylinder units before.

Everything we hoped for and More!
Our old lawn tractor had mowed its last in the midst of some dark financial straits for our family, three downsizings in a span of four years, and a reboot to an entirely different, much lower paying career. As we pressed forward we regained somewhat, enough to begin consideration of a new lawn tractor. Our dollars limited and even more precious, it was with this mindset I began to research what was available. We've a good-sized yard in a farming area, were looking for a strong machine that was up to the challenge, offered innovative features, was built here in the USA, was offered at an attractive price. The Cub Cadet we selected over models from all the other competition met all of these marks, plus one more: with its Warranty, Cub Cadet stood head and shoulders above all.
We contacted several dealers, really liked what our local dealer had to offer, and inked a deal quickly. The dealer offered the real sense they could be trusted from sale and through the anticipated many years of service. The Cub Cadet snowthrower that continues to serve our family winter after lengthening winter was going to have a Cub Cadet stablemate.
We opted for the Cub Cadet XT2 Enduro LX42KH, its bigger, Kohler-built engine and upgraded tires in particular catching our attention. The LX42KH is tough, shows its quality in how it's built, how it starts, operates. And that hydrostatic transmission? Very sweet. Get mowing, set the cruise control, and rediscover the joy of yardwork. The engine runs smoothly, and early experience shows it's economical, efficient, another plus. Control is easy, sight lines are clear, and the ergonomically designed seating and steering wheel add to the simple enjoyment one finds when settling in for a spin. Have a beverage with you? My choice is a bottled water, but I'm sure this model's cup holder will securely tote your favorite beverage, too.
The mowing deck features a pair of blades on this model, and access for servicing is also easy. I pulled the deck to install a mulching kit, was finished soon after I began the swap. Our lawn had by fiscal necessity been moved lower on our priorities list, but it's almost overnight looking much better thanks to the smooth, even cut from this mower deck, and the finely chopped organics that are being returned to our turf to assist in its rebirth. Once the deck needs cleaning, I'm looking forward to trying the handy port at which a garden hose is connected, the deck underside then cleaned.
And if darkness approaches the LED lighting casts ample bright to finish the chores for the day and return the Cub Cadet to its place in our barn.
Maintenance is easy; checking, topping the oil is a cinch. Refueling is straightforward, that generously sized fuel tank extending the range. (You may have to stop and replenish that favorite beverage.) Access to engine components is outstanding. One gets the very real sense of how much went into this exceptionally designed and superbly constructed lawn tractor.
Our new Cub Cadet XT2 Enduro LX42KH is EVERYTHING we hoped for, and MORE. Why spend more for a paint color, only to get less, and a poorer warranty? Just c'mon over to Cub Cadet like our family did. You'll be impressed and delighted as are we.
One gets the very real sense this machine was designed by folks who know power equipment, know what they wanted to design and delivered on the concept.

Pleased with the machine.
Although I have never owned a Cub Cadet before I have had the pleasure to borrow other machines from neighbors. I have needed to because my previous riding mower were in the process of getting repaired and the grass just keeps growing. Well it is from the kindness of Cub Cadet owners that led me to look into one of my own when I needed to replace my riding mower. As a result I will let my neighbors borrow my Cub when they are in need. Cub Loaner program should be encouraged.
Most of the other Cub's I have used were the lever Hydro hand operated. I personally prefer the new foot control. I chose the XT2 model as I have some steep ditches to mow and I find that it works as well as expected. It is actually easier to mow with than a push mower. It holds the ground well and does not slide down the hill like my old rider. It also should last longer with the heavier metal used in construction. The oil pump in the motor will also ensure a longer life on those slopes.

Trouble from the beginning
I bought the XT2 model in Nov 2018 as part of a pkg deal including a snowblower. Since I started using the tractor this spring I have had problems. It only has 18 hrs of use and constantly keeps stalling. I mow 1/2 acre and at the beginning of the season would stall a couple of times but I was able to finish mowing. The last couple of weeks I can not keep it running long enough to finish yard. Unable to figure out what the problem is at this point. I will have to have the implement place I purchased it from pick it up and figure out what the problem is which will probably cost me hundreds. This being the case I will never be buying any cub cadet products in the future. I can just hear cub cadet reaching for tissues to dab at their tears.

Bought this puppy today and it's badass. It will turn on a dime and throw you 9 cents change. Love the hydrostatic throttle. This thing will haul the mail. I'm very impressed and would recommend it to anyone that needs a mans mower. Keep up the great work team Cub Cadet!!

Great tractor, and great dealer service
Richards equipment sold me the tractor 1 year ago, and I have had nothing but great service and a top quality tractor. I bought the snow blower attachment as well for the great winters we have... What a time saver. Again, great quality!! I had a problem with a belt breaking for unknown reasons, and I just called Richards equipment, they showed up with a truck to pick up my tractor, and fix it, but the best part was they sent their own tractor to finish my driveway. Awesome service!! Highly recommend CubCadet to anyone wanting a tractor.

Nice Machine, not to high in Price.
Bought this about a month ago. Machine is very nice. The only thing I would say to change or at least be able to limit is this: If the machine is in the reverse mode, it should be interlocked or locked out so the machine will not go forward. This machine will drive forward in the reverse mode.

This is the most fun I have ever had in mowing my lawn. when we moved to our new home a year ago I struggled getting the grass cut in less than an hour sand with much effort with lots of hills in the back yard. Now I can mow the lawn with ease and comfort in less than 30 minutes and relax while I mow! This product is great and I would recommend it to a friend or a relative without hesitation. The quality of the product is immediately apparent. It is obviously well designed and engineered and built with perfection.

Hardworking, strong mower
This is a strong mower. It does everything we need it to on our 2 acre property. It is comfortable to ride and easy to maneuver around the many trees we have. I have a hard time getting my wife to give me a chance to use it.

First Rider
I bought this September 2018, and have been very happy with it. It has plenty of power, comfortable, very maneuverable, easy to work on, and has very useful features. We moved to Jacksonville from Tampa July of last year. Never had a house with this large of a lot, so I always used self-propelled mowers. With this large of a yard, and the heat of the summers here, I finally broke down and we bought our first rider. Couldn't be happier with our purchase. Maintenance is a breeze on this. I also use it to mow the entrance to our subdivision, as we are in an older and smaller neighborhood. I chip in some sweat equity with the other neighbors to keep our entrance looking good and to keep our HOA fees under $100 a year. A very good investment on a very good riding mower. If I ever need to buy another, it will be a Cub Cadet. The only nitpick I have with it, is that they don't have an adapter for the "Quickattach" that will allow you to hook a trailer up to it without removing the fitting. Had to fabricate one myself so I don't have to constantly remove the bagger system when I attach the trailer.
