Great Lawn Tractor
This is a great Lawn Tractor! But I underestimated the size of my lawn and should have gotten one with more powerful engine and greater cutting with. That said I really enjoy using it and it does a great job. I installed the mulching kit and it works great. I also installed the plow kit and now that its winter, its one of my tools to clear my driveway. It does okay as a snow plow. Even with snow chains and a weight kit, it will get stuck if I go off my paved driveway. But very happy to have it and teamed it with a 3X snow thrower that I use for deep snow. I use the lawn tractor for the lighter stuff because its quicker.

Proud to own this fine machine !
I bought this machine at the Orange Big Box store in January as part of a clearance sale. It had been sitting at the store so long that the battery was dead and the salesman almost couldn't crank it. He replaced battery and got it to crank and I loaded it and brought it home. I've now run it for 3.5 hours and it runs like a sewing machine. Smooth and very powerful. Cranks the first time I turn the key every time. I am very satisfied with its build quality. I am 53 years old and fully expect to own and operate this great machine for the rest of my life. I am one happy Cub Cadet owner !

So far , so good.
I have owned this machine for one month. Added a mulch kit. looking for a front bumper. Only mowed with it twice. I live in Minnesota. The snow melted about three weeks ago. I have used the machine with a lawn cart to haul brush, furniture, mulch, dirt, firewood and much more. Love the turning radius. Love the 18 HP engine. The forward pedal and reverse pedal are great. My old machne (Yardman) had a lever shift for forward and reverse. this is so much easier. Removed the deck to install the new blades for the mulch kit and was happy with the ease of the task. The water flush attachment is something that should have been invented years ago. I am very happy so far.

Great first 4 cuts, now broken
I bought this Tractor 1.5 months ago(6/15/2018), I used it to cut my yard it did a great job. However on the 5th cut(19 hours following all maintenance guild lines) the tractor would not start and started spewing fuel out of the carb. We never leave fuel in it. However it was "Caused by bad fuel". Fuel was in the crank case. Word of warning "Fuel Issues are not covered by warranty", however we did get CC to do the warranty work as the tractor was only 1.5 months old.

Love the Features
We got this XT1 LT42 EFI a year ago when we moved into our new house. First time with a half acre of land to care for and this does the trick. First, it mows great, as it should. Second, I love the fuel injection. Starts fast, the first time, every time - no matter the temperature, summer or winter. And no long term storage issues with a carburetor. Also, the Cub Connect hour meter with the Bluetooth based phone app is great for staying on top of maintenance. I'm looking forward to many happy years with Otto. (we name out lawn equipment. don't you?)

Purchased this mower about 1 month ago...wonder to drive and sit in. I can wait to mow my lawn with this. It is very high performance and is well worth the money. This tractor is perfect in everyway. I bought this mower and it is VERY easy to ensemble and it starts up faster then you can say Cub Cadet. This is the best mower I have had so far. Good job Cub

Sharp and smooth
We have had our cub cadet lawn tractor LT 42 for about 6 weeks now and we have no regrets about our purchase. The mower runs very well with a sharp and smooth cut. I really like the double blade mowing deck which allows me to mow at faster speeds and still get a good cut. I also like the Kohler engine. I have had other mowers with engines from another popular brand that I was not impressed with and have had a lot of issues. Best of all my wife likes to mow with it. She loves the yellow color and says it is "cute". Hey if she is happy I am happy!

Cub Cadet XT1 LT42
Ordered on July 29,2018 received Aug 3,2018 in a crate from the factory which is exactly what I wanted. Took about 1 1/2 hours to disassemble the crate and put together. Oil was full added gas it started right up. Brought it inside my shed leveled mower deck and set anti scalp wheels to proper height. Runs and cuts the lawn beautifully love the hydrostatic transmission and the fact you can mow in reverse. Note for anybody buying it this way CHECK TIRE PRESSURE they are over inflated for shipping rear is supposed to be 10 psi front 14 psi READ THE OWNERS MANUAL. I now have a great mower with no rust whatever on it. The big box stores leave them outside in the weather so the ones I looked at there were rusty which is why I ordered it this way.

Spend the extra few!!
I am a typical homeowner with a 1/2 acre lawn and have owned generic big box store tractors in the past. After the last one fell apart I decided to spend a little more and get a quality tractor. Wow am I pleased! The XT1 is the base model but head and shoulders better than the tractors costing $300-500 less. I have 12 hours on this tractor and actually get excited about cutting the grass. I have lots of trees so the turn radius is a big plus. Very tight turns and easy due to the hydrostatic drive. It's like driving a car. Never go back to gears again. Love the hydrostatic drive!! Even though this model is a little heavier than my old clunker, it feels lighter and more maneuverable. Bought this tractor from a dealer who was awesome. Delivered it for free to my house and took the old nightmare away. I am very happy with Cub Cadet and no doubt in a better class of tractor for a reasonable price.

Love My XT1
I have a sloped front yard for water drainage, with a good number of trees that I need to work around. I have the grass catcher, but changed it out for a mulching blade. Grass catcher works GREAT. Just got tired of emptying it.. The Mulching Blade works very well.
I also use a gravel leveling box grader, the tractor pulls it with no issues at all.
Better if items...
1 With the Mulching Blade, it would be better if the shoot could be locked in the up position so, I can trim around the many trees
2 The tilt sensitivity is a bit to sensitive. I understand the seat cut off but the tilt is a bit to sensitive.
3 The back up blade shut off is a bit too much. Would like to have the option for those who have used equipment to turn that off by a switch or something..

I would recommend to anyone!
This lawn tractor is excellent! With my old mower having one foot in the grave, I figured it was time to bite the bullet and buy a new one. I am very glad I picked the Cub Cadet XT1 L42, as this mower has cut my mowing time! I am also impressed with the short turning radius and how my yard looked like a golf course after my first use!
If you are looking at similar mowers, stop wasting your time and go buy a Cub Cadet! You wont regret it!

LOVE my XT1 LT42!
I purchased the XT1 LT42 a few weeks ago and so far I LOVE it! This is my first Cub Cadet and as long as it continues to work like it does now, I'll never own anything else but a Cadet! I also purchased the bagger for it. LOVE that thing too!
I'd recommend the mower and bagger to anyone! At this point, I couldn't be happier. I'm a yard person so my yard is manicured...the one thing I did do was I leveled the mowing deck with the front bolt and my yard looks AMAZING.

Bought this for my uneven property
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After doing a lot of research I chose this tractor and after 8 hours of use I am happy I did. My property is hilly with a lot of obstacles. This tractor does well with the hills but with the turf tires the grass needs to be dry. Between the tight turning radius and being able to mow in reverse I can manage all my weird areas. Part of the yard is a horse pasture and I was able to see how the mulching blades did with thick grass. The 18 hp kohler has plenty of power. The mulching blades do a better job than my walk behind mower. I also use the tractor to pull an aerator. No problem, easy hook-up.

Fabulous machine
Recently I was in much need of a new riding mower... I did some comparisons, the seat, compartments, engine , engine cover, CUP HOLDER, and a few others... I find the adjustable seat comfortable, LOVE< LOVE the compartments for car keys ~ phone~ etc..... Awesome cup holder ( I really wanted one of these :) )... I love the convenience of an automatic transmission (no more shifting) hehehe.... The engine cover is very sturdy.... The last one had cracked very easily (not a cub) and also faded horribly.. I really enjoy the fact that I no longer need to lift the engine cover to add gas also.. The cut I receive is nice and even.. The turning radius is fabulous~! No more WIDE turns....No more back tracking ~!~! Engine cranks right up without hesitation.. I guess I can really say my bumble~bee purrs.. :) The deck is very easy to clean especially with the convenient , included, attachment for the hose...I love the warranty she has too~! Without a doubt , I am one happy customer.. My Papa purchased one about 3 years ago and has never had one minute of trouble from his either... Thanks Cub Cadet...

Nice machine
I purchased my Cub Cadet XT1 42 used (2016 with only 30 hours). Couldn’t pass on the deal. It’s a great machine for cutting my cottage grass which is approx 3/4 cut acres. Turning radius is fantastic for wheeling around trees rocks etc. Comfortable ride and the ease of use simple. Controls all within reach and smooth operation. I changed the oil which was a 15 minute job and was easy and attainable. Haven’t used the deck wash system yet but I will next time. I’ve purchased a dump cart and the Cub Cadet front bumper as well. This cut down our grass cutting time from about three hours to 40 mins. Great machine!

Runs well, mows well, but . . .
I've used this mower about 5 times now and like it really well. I deducted a star because I feel there was too much cost cutting in thee dash controls. The key switch seems a little sloppy, the hour meter display is WAY too small, but the throttle mounting is the worst. I have use both hands to move it down or it pulls right out of the dash. Maybe something was broken when the store assembled it: I'm not sure. The plastic used doesn't seem all that durable to me.

I like the machine a lot. Now have 25 hours on it. It runs good, turns sharply, mows well. The mulch attachment is not so good. It does not fit well and grass particle go everywhere. I have now taken some black silicone caulk and gone completely around the plastic plug but have not been able to try it because of rainy weather. I did mow just briefly and it seemed to contain the flying particles. Will have to work it more to see if it is really fixed. Overall I am happy with the mower and look forward to using it each time.

Great mower
Been looking at riding mowers for about a year now. Finally made decision and purchased the 42” XLT. Have only used mower less than dozen times, but could be any happier with purchase. Mower cuts perfect and seems to have plenty of power to pulling dump trailer and yard roller. I’ve never had a tractor that turns so easy and has very tight turning radius. Finding something to complain about with mower would be a difficult task. Extremely pleased with purchase.

This is my 3rd, Cub, and it I think it the best one I have purchased. I do have one small issue. The throttle lever is mounted too low on the dash. I continually bump my knee against it. Maybe a taller person with the seat back won't have this issue. I think they should just relocate it higher up. It cuts great and runs fine.

Best I have ever owned
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased my Cub Cadet almost five years ago. I have owned two other riding mowers and the third one is the charm. I researched mowers before investing before my retirement and decided on the Cub over the John Deer and I have no regrets. I have almost a half acre and can get it cut in less than a hour. All I have needed was to change the oil and I had to replace one front tire. This year I did replace the battery. The craftsman I owned before this one was the worse mower I had ever owned . Cub Cadet is pure quality . Do yourself a favor and next time after you research mowers buy the Cub Cadet.

I Love My Cub
After many years working between small Snappers and a few second hand Cub Cadets, I finally broke down and bought a brand new Shiny Yellow and Black Cub Cadet. (Actually, I finally talked my wife into buying the darn thing!!!) We both use it to cut our grass and we both love all the new features it has. For me the CUP HOLDER was a must. I was hoping for a CANE HOLDER but was out of luck with that one!!! I will have to get the Velcro out for that. On a serious note--We could not have gotten a better mower for the price, and we both Love our Cubby!!!.

Much better than walking behind mower.
Easy start, smooth running. Mulching option is messy. Grass clippings cover my feet and foot platform by the time I'm done. Doesn't really keep it under the mower. Loud, need hearing protection. Otherwise an acceptable purchase. Had self propelled walk behind, mowed smoother and had better mulcher. Ankle surgery so I can no longer wall behind mower for distances. Got this based on CR reviews which I rely on most of the time for my expensive purchases.

Good mower for large yard
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this mower last year and during the summer have to mow every 5 days. I have found the mower to be reliable both in starting and running. Only thing I see is that upon initial starting it blows out some black smoke which stops within several seconds. The turning radius is better then some other machines I have had, it allows me to cut around the six foot diameter curbing I have around some palms. I also wish they put a fuel shutoff on these which I have done since ethonal gas can cause carb problems. Overall I find it to be a very good riding lawn mower and would recommend it.

My 42” cub
I got this about 4 months ago. I cut an acer lot mostly flat. It cuts very well. I found out that the blade deck was lower than that I set it to on the adjuster. Read the manual on how to level the deck. After that I had no issues. The only thing is that the manual paper is very thin and easy to get torn up. I really like the mower. I would recommend this to everyone that has a lot of grass and the price is good.

Good features, good value
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had my XT1 LT42 for about 21/2 years, my third mowing season.
I have been very pleased with the ease of operation and cut quality. My yard has quite a slope, about maximum for this units rating. It handles that with ease.
My only complaints are when you disengage the mower blades the return spring broke after a couple of mowings. Could not find this part on parts diagram or list. The other is when I used the hose attachment on the deck to clean underneath, water was forced under the deck paint on top of deck and flaked the paint off in a rather large area. A little Rust-Oleum and it was good.

Great Mower
This is my first Cub Cadet. I've owned it for a month now and am very satisfied with its performance and features. I like the larger gas tank and the fill on the outside of the engine compartment. The cast iron front axle was a big selling point as I tend to wear the steering out on riding mowers. Being able to mow in reverse was also important in my decision to purchase.

This mower has met all of my expectations. I like the new steering system & has plenty of speed. I didn't think I would like the reverse cut off feature but once I used it,I found that it really isn't a factor. This is my second Cub Cadet riding mower & glad I elected to get another.

Highly Recomend
I have owned my Cub Cadet for just over a year now and have put over 100 hours on it. We have just under an acre with some hills and trees. My rider does a superb job every time! The turning radius is what has surprised me the most. With the addition of our tilt trailer no job has been too big or small. From pulling loads of soil, mulch, and even boulders. My Cub Cadet has gotten the job done!

Good Choice
After researching many models and makes, I chose the Cub Cadet.
Well built, strong frame and body (100# more than most competitors)
Easy to operate, 1 lever for PTO, 1 lever, easy to adjust height adjustment, hydro transmission is simple, reverse cut setting is easy and safe. High back seat is awesome (COMFORTABLE).
Short turn radius, nice even cut. Gas tank level is viewable from side.
Steering is smooth and easy..
What more can I say..................just a good machine at a good price.
