I just purchased the XT2 LX42 and I must say. This isn't your grandpa's cub cadet. I've been using cub cadet products since my grandpa taught me to drive a tractor when I was 5. (Forty some years). Today's tractor is impressive. No tools to remove the hood, easy access to air filter, no need to lift the hood to check fuel tank or fill it. Arm rests on the seat! Spin off oil filter, easy drain oil. This tractor rides smooth. I am IMPRESSED!

Very Happy so far
I researched lawn tractors and arrived at this one for my application. I chose the XT2 because I wanted to purchase thru my local dealer for future parts and service etc. Talking with the dealer he explained the differences between the different series. So far I have about 15hrs on it and it has performed well. It is faster and smoother than lawn tractors I've had in the past and quality of materials feels excellent. I think my favorite overall part of this tractor is the smooth positive steering and exceptionally tight turning radius. I cut around a lot of trees and the ability to turn tight is really beneficial. All deck and cutting controls are solid and don't feel flimsy. The cut in reverse override is straight forward and easy to use. I've read some complaints about having to do this at all but I really don't see the big deal its as simple as turning the key and pushing a button. Overall I'm happy with the purchase of this American made tractor and the care I received from the dealer. I may add a mulching kit to clean up leaves this fall.

Impressive tractor
I have had the Cub for about a month and done 3 cuts on a 3/4 acre, and very hilly lawn. The tractor is very comfortable and ergonomic compared to others I considered. I also appreciate the additional features of the XT1 vs XT2.
The XT2 makes a nice cut and distributes the clippings very well....though I will be adding a mulch kit very soon. The turning radius is impressive and makes navigating around the lawn obstacles very well. I do find that with any dew or moisture on the grass, the rear wheels have a tendency to slip when climbing some of he hills. I have also reduced the tire pressure a bit to smooth out the ride.
Overall, I am very pleased and would recommend it for anyone looking for a garden tractor.

Excellent Mower
I live on acre lot with some hills and trees an looked around at other brand mowers an decided on this one. What I like about this one is the new style of the mower and the power of the new v-twin 7000 series Kohler engine plenty of power. I also like the big seat springs for comfort the ease of the tight steering radius for going around obstacles, the front roller bearings in the wheels for smooth riding an the transmission that requires no shifting into forward or reverse.

Very good, not so good
Love cub cadet,was a dealer years ago. XT2 42 super product except cruse control does not work, LED lights come from factory with lenses covered on inside with dust. makes no difference, Mowing in dusty grass fills lights with more dust and clippings. XT2 specs includes traction control which does not work. Short steer radius excellent. K 7000 engine excellant

great value for the money, easy to handle;
Replaced a 1990 green machine, hope it lasts nearly as long. It starts easy, drives nice, not hard to handle, mows very nice, seat is comfortable, controls are easy to reach & operate. I only have 2 complaints; first the throttle lever should be positioned differently, when it is at idle/off & you dis-mount you hit it-makes getting off difficult. Second the attachment for mulching is cheap, too flexible & doesn't fit well so grass blows out all around it & up on the deck it balls up & periodically falls off in the yard & makes a mess on & around the deck. The only other thing my husband commented about is no maintennance interval or instructions for the transaxle

Simply the best
I grew up in the 80's/90's using my old man's Cub Cadet tractor so I may be a bit partial. As you can tell by the reviews and recommendations, this is a fantastic piece of machinery. I purchased my Cub in the summer of 2018 and after mowing all summer I have zero complaints. It starts every time, runs smooth, blade removal is easy, changing the oil isn't a problem, and the turning radius is second to none. Definitely would purchase again.

Very happy with my purchase of the XT2, it is a few grades above my previous rider. The 22 HP Kohler doesn't slow down a bit when cutting my thick grass/weeds. My mowing time has been shortened almost half as I don't have to slow down to get a nice cut. The seat is comfortable and the armrests add a nice touch.
I did my first oil change at just over 5 hours and it was a breeze. The gas pedal and reverse pedal took a little to get used to but I really like it.
At this point I have no complaints.

Easy to use.
Motor is powerful, easy on gas, smooth running. Tractor is easy to steer and operate, not tired when you are done cutting one-acre. Starts first time every time and runs flawlessly. Easy to fuel. Overall just a great tractor, I have two XT-2's, both great machines. Worst thing about these tractors is getting off to use the Weed Whip / String Trimmer.

Great tractor
I love this tractor. I had to buy a house with a yard so I could buy a lawn tractor to mow it with. I've been dreaming of buying a lawn tractor since I was eight. This year I finally got it. It has great power and rides very nice. I bought the mulching kit for it and it works pretty good. I really like how the fuel tank is upfront and you can visually check it. Compared to my friends John Deere this tractor has a better turning radius and it looks cleaner under the hood. There's no mess of wires going here and there. Also putting it in reverse mowing is much simpler then the deere. This tractor looks great and runs great.

Well made with easy access for servicing!
This is my first cub cadet and I must say that I am very impressed. I have used this lawn tractor going on its second mowing season and it is a well made machine. Maintenance is a breeze. Steering is responsive with tight turn radius.
Seat with arm rests is comfortable. This mower has plenty of power with the kohler v twin engine and the quality of the cut is better than the competitors. Thanks cub cadet!

Better then I was told!!
Bought the XT2 in July of 2015 and have used it each week to cut
1/2 acre lawn and I am impressed at how easy and how even this
tractor cuts. The lawn has some small hills here and there and the Cub handles it with ease.
The seat is very comfortable and the ride is sweet. Mowing the lawn
has never been better.
I cut the lawn 4 times on 1 tank of gas which seems good to me.
The XT2 is built strong and looks great in the black and yellow and the price is right.
I recommend this tractor over all others hands down.

Better than Expected
I purchased this X2 42" Cub Cadet to replace a 14 year old John Deere LT150 that was giving me grief.
The dealership here in Warner Robins Ga was very knowledgeable about the product and did not try to fast sell me. I liked the V twin Kohler engine and was impressed with the overall build quality. The purchase included delivery and a full tank of gas. I also purchased a front bumper from the Cub Cadet web site.
First impressions were better than expected. The deck height adjustment offers 1/4" increments and is free floating. The engine is powerful and a bit noisy. The hydrostatic transmission is a breeze and beats the manual shift of my old John Deere hands down. The mower came with a mulching blade and my first cut of the lawn was impressive. All in all a satisfied customer .

great purchase
after having a low end husq. which did nothing but give me trouble for 8 years checked out cubs and john deere riders. decided on cub xt2, purchased at norfork power in burrllville r.i. wayne and staff we excellent. cut four lawns with machine and could not be happier, powerful , precision cut , handling and price was great. what a great rider.

Best Tractor To Date! Strong & Smooth!
This is absolutely my favorite lawn tractor to date. I upgraded from a Cub Cadet LTX 1042 and have been overly pleased in the almost 2 years I've owned the XT2 LX42. Not only does it run smooth, it has a very comfortable seat with armrests and it easily pulls my lawn roller and the bagging system is perfect for fall cleanup. I have had zero issues with my XT2 LX42.

Mixed Feelings
I bought this mower in late August 2018. It was a replacement for another brand of mower that kept breaking down on me. The mower did great for the finish of the 2018 season but let me down the first time out in 2019. Not even a full trip around the yard and it chewed up and slung the deck belt. The mower is currently back at the dealership awaiting repair....hopefully in the next three weeks. I bought this mower to have something new that I could depend on...at this time, that is not the case.

Review after 12 months use
I was going to buy a zero turn with the steering wheel but after test riding the XT2 42"in the yard it was almost a zero turn but not... It turns very tightly for a traditional mower...My motor is a twin but I think it's a Cub Cadet not a Kohler but it never lacks power, I originally bought a LT1042 in 2008 and traded it for a used TTX1048 but it was too big for my yard, I traded it in on a new XT2 and My wife and I love it..

great machine!
I love my tractor it's a great addition to my home, we have just over half acre and it takes me just over 45 min to mow the whole yard. I purchased the snow blade and that was awesome too, took no time to clear heavy snow. The only complaints are my key switch is faulty from the factory is when I have the PTO reverse kill safety switch turned off, occasionally it will actually turn my PTO off, very annoying; my dealer has a new part on order but still a pain. The fuel tank "full" indicator outside the hood is also very low compared to how much you can actually put in, not sure why this is but seems silly.

Researched all of the new riding mowers and was impressed with the overall quality and rigid construction. Cub Cadet has gone back to what made them a great lawn tractor in the past. The mulching kit works well with the new bolt on design of the shoot plug.

Top Dog!
Had a great John Deere for 12 years. Was ready to replace
it with same Company. Then read some review on Cub Cadet,
and visited dealership. First, dealership was outstanding people.
They showed me a comparable model, and found construction and features to be superior. Purchased the Cub Cadet that day, and never looked back. This is a top performing machine, and I could not ask for anything better.

It's Tough. I am very pleased.
I purchased the XT2 LX42 in April 2019. I have been using it to mow a 1 acre lake lot. The forward and reverse hydrostatic transmission is crisp without being jerky. The mower cuts true and smooth. Now for the tough part-- as I have been mowing and clearing this lake lot with many trees, I have been constantly running over smaller branches (1" and less); its noisy mowing branches but in checking the blades after 2 months, no significant dings in the blade. Then I hit a hidden tree stump- stopped the engine cold. Started right up. Checked the blade again, no bends. I am very please I purchased this mower.

Love this cub my dad always had cubs and they gave great service I got an XT2 with 42" cut 22hp Kohler motor the only thing this mower needs is a switch so you can turn the lights off other than that it is a very good mower

I'm pretty happy with it.
Overall, I'm pleased with the power and the cut quality. I have notice some wheel spin and traction issues on uneven terrain though. My previous mower was a John Deere, and I never had a problem with it slipping. I will also say that I wish it didn't have the arm rests. They get in my way too often, and I find myself mowing with them raised most of the time.

Solid Machine; Great Price
I use my tractor a lot for towing loads of brush, yard debris and storage items around the yard and between buildings. It's hilly terrain with lots of trees to maneuver around. The hydrostatic trans is super smooth and easy to use. I hauled several loads of gravel, easily 500lbs and had plenty of power even at crawl speeds to safely transport from one end of the property to the other. It's actually safer than the large farm tractor because of the better speed control. Works great for a mower too of course, has compartments for my gloves, a drink and broom for wiping the deck when done. The power deck wash is a nice feature too. I would probably say the best feature for a long day of mowing is the seat, it's adjustable and is surprisingly very comfy! Overall great multiple use machine!

Excellent Tractor
I was always a fan of another brand but when they came out with a new proprietary oil filter system I decided to look around and discovered Cub Cadet and couldn't be happier. The cub just feels like a stronger, better machine and I'm not sure how or why but the Cub gives a better cut with no gouging on hills. The engine and transmission stays strong going up hill and the steering is far superior. The best feature is the thought that has obviously gone into this machine. The height and engagement control levers are on the right side so there is nothing in your way when getting on or off the tractor from the left side. The fuel filler is convenient and the level is easily monitored from the driver's seat. The seat is comfortable and will go back far enough to be comfortable. For the money I don't believe you can get a better machine.

Excellent Machine
Replacing a 14 year old machine dont want to spend more money on it. so after searching for months i decided on a cub cadet. i almost went with a xt 1 50 inch 24 horse motor. but after searching and reading up i decided to go with the xt2 42 inch 22 horse motor. it used to take me 2 hours to mow. ijust mowed today for the first time with the xt2 and i cut my time in half. plenty of power, love the steering almost seems like power steering. cuts smooth my yard looks great. love this machine. need to order bumper and arm rest.
